    Hi,
I asked this in the angling forum too!

    Hi all,
Looking for small bit of advice ,
I’ve been looking to buy a lake boat secondhand for fly fishing but there seems to be a big difference in the price between 17ft and 19ft boats,
I know 19ft is more popular and I’ve had a 19ft timber boat in the past,
Would it make much difference in performance on the lake?
Apart from length what’s the difference?
I’ve been looking at Burke boats, sheelin boats and darragh boats,
I would love to buy another larch boat but that’s another story!
    Thanks

If you are fishing on your own most of the time a 17 foot should be fine easier to launch and retrieve, if you plan on fishing with 2 or 3 others maybe the 19.

Probably be just me most of the time, maybe the 2 kids sometimes!
Would a 19ft be better in rough weather than the 17ft?
