Just curious what's the minimum amount of money you believe someone living in this country could survive on food wise?

A while ago I put together a food plan for the week I didn't factor in nutrients but I tried to keep things fairly healthy I think I arrived at a figure of about €12

What would you do with a limited budget?

Depends on the circumstances. Right now I’d need 100 or so quid a week to eat but if we got ina survival situation I have about 8 neighbours picked out who I could kill and feed off.

Gotta update your sources guy. There's a guy on reddit who ate his own foot with some friends. Tasted like salty buffalo I believe.

I think you could live cheaply and healthy, it'd take a lot of effort and smart methods/tactics and strict routine and a lot of boring repetition you'll inevitably get sick of that I'm not willing to put in though. Porridge, Lentils/quinoa/wild rice/brown pasta, some cans of tomato sauces or other sauces, some cheap veg like potatoes, carrots, cans of different beans are all good staples. All pretty cheap and healthy
I would say you could eat fairly well on 15 or so a week if you exclude meat or any perishables like berries etc, but as I said needs a lot of commitment and no splashing out which is difficult and unrealistic for me anyway

Around E15 a week. Perforce; pensioner. And that caters for a few "treats". eg chocolate.. I have many food sensitivities which does limit,

staples are bread, cheese, eggs.milk. potatoes..some fruit... some frozen fish ..dislike rice and pasta and sauces. Never meat. always eaten simply and am happy with this. Just eat what I want. Occasionally the good ready meals always the ones with potatoes . Just frozen meals of cauli, new potatoes and home made cheese sauce..... soups and stews of infinite variety

    very easy after many years

    growing strawbs too..

You would hate it! But that is fine too. lol.. I could not eat like so many here enjoy.

I bought a packet of seed potatoes in Lidl for €1.99. I now have 27 plants ready for harvesting from a couple of weeks onwards, that will do me for carbs and vitamin C for a few months.
Other than that, realistically, I don't know how I would live on less than about €100 a week for food!

Around €30 usually does me. Most expensive items tend to be cheese, milk, , some types of vegetables, herbs. I eat a lot of canned fish and pulses. My spend on beer is higher than that for food.

Don't bet on your spuds, I pulled two of my plants the other day for a look and they were tiny. Not enough rain.

I never knew that potatoes make seeds.
I just thought you put the spud in the ground.
