Best watches under 100 Euro price tier thread

I thought it would be interesting to have a Best watches under 100 Euro price tier thread.
Reason being not everyone can afford high-end pieces, or even mid-tier. So under 100 Euro is often where one starts watch collecting.
So I will start this off with 2 personal favourites of mine; which I feel offer real value/quality at this price tier.
The Casio Duro MDV106; 200 metres, screw down crown, screw down caseback, date complication.
    https://amzn.to/2JOLYNw
And the Seiko 5 SNXS77K; Hardlex crystal, exhibition caseback, 7S26 movement, lovely blue sunburst dial, excellent lume, day-date complication.
    https://amzn.to/2t0bU2n
So tell me your favourites under 100 Euro?

G Shocks; particularly the ana-digi ones. Dunno if they're still in business, but Getat are/were decent PAM homages. I've not owned one, but Parnis look like a good shout too. Haven't seen many in the flesh, but there are some decent looking Timexs (Timices?) for well under 100 quid.

Agreed, G-Shocks and Timex are great quality/value for under 100 Euro. Both very durable respectively.
At the budget end of the scale, one I have to mention is the Casio A168WA
I just love the retro 1980's look of it.

This one is just within budget at 91.52 Euro including delivery.
The Orient Symphony is a great looking piece, cheaper than the Bambino but offering similar quality/value.
The main difference being; the Bambino has a domed crystal, whereas the Symphony has a flat crystal.
21 jewel automatic movement, exhibition caseback, genuine leather strap, date complication, 50 metre water resistance, stainless steel case (rather than plated).

Agreed, for under 100 Euro the have the price tier covered. Great quality/value for the money. The 7S25 movement is well-proven, so one can forgive the crap folded link bracelets they come on. They had to cut costs somewhere, and they chose the right area. I think the SKX007 is also the best piece possible for the under 200 Euro price tier. Great value. I think either a Seiko 5 or SKX007 are both excellent starts to any collection.

Yes Vostok Amphibia's are also a good value/quality choice for under 100 Euro too. Like the Seiko 5's the bracelets are cheap folded rubbish; but one cannot complain as that is easily sorted.
Although I see Meranom is now offering them on solid link bracelets too now; so that is a good improvement.
Personally I prefer the Seiko 5 range to the Amphibia; mainly due to the 7S26 movement over the 2415b.
Also the Hardlex crystals are more scratch resistant than the lucite (acrylic) domed crystals in the Amphibia. But having said that, Polywatch or toothpaste will polish remove most scuffs.

The Seiko 5 bracelet may be cheap and rubbish but I find them super comfortable, light and very easy to wear.

They do sound awful though when they are rattling while off the wrist. Terrible sound haha

Agreed, they are comfortable. I just find the folded links pull my arm hairs like an Epilady/Veet!
The Jubilee on an SKX007 is one of the most comfortable bracelets I have worn; but I just don't like the look. I prefer a Super Oyster on everything you see; more for looks than comfort to be honest.
The funny thing is, my 25 Euro Sekonda with folded links was one of the most comfortable pieces I have ever worn.
Another thing Rolex owners will never admit to; but the truth is, the Planet Ocean bracelet and clasp is much better and more comfortable than the Submariner one.
I am looking forward to the slim rivet link bracelet on the Black Bay. It looks as good as it feels. Nice stepping down to the links rather than tapered.

Slightly above €100 upper limit (at £92), but would this be a decent buy?

    http://www.creationwatches.com/products/citizen-chronograph-50/citizen-eco-drive-chronograph-ca0288-02e-mens-watch-3324.html#reviews

Or is the RRP inflated to make it look like a better deal?

Great choice. I think they are excellent quality/value with the well-proven 7S26 movement. The blue one is nice. Personally green is my favourite; but they come in loads of colours sure to suit everyone's respective taste. The exhibition caseback showing off the movement is a nice feature at this price tier too. Wear your new piece in good health.

It looks nice. I was after a military type watch but didn't want to gamble on eBay . Happy out with my cheap Seiko. I have a seiko presage already but that's for special occasions. I saw a recommendation elsewhere to put the Seiko blue on a brown leather strap. Looks well.

At 109.58 Euro the Orient Mako 2 is slightly over budget; but its so good I think we should let it in.
This was the best price I could find online; shipped from Hong Kong (value declared is 35 Euro so might even make it through Irish customs untaxed if one is lucky).
A great value/quality piece. 200 metre water resistance, lovely blue sunburst dial, applied indices, good lume, screw down crown and caseback, solid link bracelet.
For the price it really is a good quality piece.

Reading this thread, I remembered there was a time, not so long ago, maybe five years ago, where I would jump in like the gobshite I am :D and witter on about what you could get in very nice vintage pieces for under a hundred quid(I have in the past). Sadly since then not nearly so much. Even some of my "you spent money on that yoke" watches have gone silly money, or just can't be found too easily. It's an "interesting time" for vintage folks. My old guide, nay rule, of never going above two hundred euro/pounds/punts/dollars/quid on eBay that got me some very nice/rare/quality watches would get me little if anything today. Though you can still get some cool vintage Russian stuff for that money.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Interesting read, thank you. Apart from Russian brands; are there any other vintage ones that still offer value these days? Personally I like the vintage Omega Seamaster's; and think there is still good value to be had with them. Although the 1970's wasn't their best period for movements as I am sure you know well.
I like ones like this solid 18K one. What do you think of it?

I'd reckon wildly overpriced. (comically)Wrong crown, over polished and no shots of the movement. Given they're a dealer and tout the recent service, no shot of the movement means they're angling for newbies and potential "investors" rather than collectors who will point out the issues and not hit Buy It Now.

Though I would contend that the 70's was the period where Omega blew the competition out of the water on movements, but not necessarily mechanical.

Right, back on topic and well under our 100 Euro budget at 76 USD delivered (66 Euro).
The Vostok Amphibia Scuba Dude has a cult following globally.
OK the folded link bracelet is rubbish; but that is easily sorted.
They look great on a NATO or vintage style Tropic rubber strap.

I am heavily biased when it comes to this one, so bear that in mind.
But many years ago I bought a Sekonda for 25 Euro from Argos. One of the most comfortable, accurate, durable pieces I ever owned.
They make some really good value quartz pieces.
Here is a great one for £31.50 (37 Euro). Yes 37 Euro for moonphase, day, date, complications. Lovely blue hands too. 50 metre water resistance. Nice textured dial. Genuine leather strap. Honestly, I think this is great value/quality for the price.
41mm case x 12mm thickness. So good for the larger wristed man looking for a dress watch/daily piece.
    Who needs a Patek Philippe?

OK this one is slightly above budget at £109 GBP plus £10.69 delivery to Ireland.
But at least it is coming from the UK so no risk of getting hammered import tax by Irish customs.
Swiss made, ETA quartz movement (ETA 804.192), iconic Swiss railway clock dial design, alarm function, 40mm case with a 20mm leather strap so will suit all wrist sizes. I think it's a good value/quality piece for the price.

    The Vostok Amphibia 090659.
60 Euro including delivery to Ireland.
I have personally used this seller for one with no problems.
The only negative is the 4 week wait typically.
But at the price, it's well worth the wait. The folded link bracelet is rubbish, but the lovely metallic blue sunburst dial makes up for it.
    Great on a Nato/Tropic/bracelet.

For 26 Euro I think this is a good looking piece.
I owned one years ago and paid 25 for it back then. One of the most comfortable, accurate, durable pieces I have ever owned. Lovely metallic silver sunburst dial with green lume.
347 reviews and a 5 star rating; so plenty of Argos customers concur.

I bought a Parnis Power Reserve recently, platinum dial and blue hands, dome glass, display case back, 57 pounds all in from eBay. IWC Portuguese homage watch. Everybody loves it. Plenty of people commented on it. Seagull automatic movement, noisy but works surprisingly well. No need to wind if worn. Power reserve great feature, like a fuel gauge. Big, thick watch that goes very well with jeans due to blue hands. Needs a decent strap though and the clasp gets undone too easily and I need to watch it all the time. Love this watch. Great entry to automatic mechanical watches to see what are you paying for when getting an Omega. I have the latter (Seamaster Aqua Terra), Parnis is not a patch on it, you take the Omega into your hand and you know the difference instantly. But the law of diminishing returns can't be described better with those two. I wear the Parnis daily without worrying about the wear, damage etc. Great watch for the money

I bought one of these today, thanks for mentioning it. I like how it looks for that price but I'd like to get a better strap. How do I find out which width to buy? And is there any where in particular people would recommend for good straps?

Oh it would be fine as a woman's watch. They don't get near the value or collectibility of men's. Modern quartz too tends to kill the value. So 60 quid would be about right really UE.

This is handy for women who are collectors and who like the smaller watches. Even smaller men's watches(30mm or under) usually go for much less than say a 38mm. I knew a woman who had a very nice small collection of women's watches from "big names" that had cost her remarkably little. The same collection in men's would have cost many thousands. Win win for her. :D

What happened to Vostok Ireland/The Guvnor?

Banned? Was just talking to him via PM for newbie watch advise.

Pity he was both knowledgeable and very friendly :(
Serial previously banned rereg among other things JK and much of his knowledge came from copy pasting from elsewhere(as did many of "his" watch pics), so trust me J, not as much a loss as you might think. And if you want watch advice there are far better here that will be happy to help you without any ulterior motives.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Oh wow thanks Wibbs didn't realize if there's anyone with a spare few mins that's up for advise please let me know

I'm into the classic dial look like Orient Bambino.

He recommended the likes of Wostok, Luch and Poljot and tbh they were exactly what I was after have been looking on eBay

I'd love to help you JK, but I'm pretty useless outside fairly narrow parameters. I can have an oul look around on eBay and the like if it helps, now that I think I know what you're after.

Half my watch forum reading lately was mostly ignored posts!

The Bambino is a really cool looking piece and seems to be very well priced. But what is the build quality like in them? Never had one on the wrist but for around €100 you can't really go wrong with a Japanese automatic movement

Another watch I would consider if I was you I'd the Seiko SARB033 (black dial) or SARB033( white dial) now these are about €350 but really are a stunning piece.

I bought the 035 SARB and it's a keeper! 38.5mm with a beautiful off white dial and 6r15 movement.

I'm actively on the look out for a 033 at the moment. I haven't seen one in the flesh but from pictures and all the hype I'm pretty sure it will look stunning.
