    We've all tried that.

    Very few succeed.

Obviously OP you start answering the phone while pretending to be them and act the complete dickhead to get them more bad reviews.

    Or just contact google

Won't do much for the business if they can't be contacted.

I think you will find they took the money and ran. Expect phone calls from a few other unlucky customers.
    Sorry dude.

Kitchen is actually about 95% done. It's the fact it took four months of nightmare to get it done.
Actually spoke to another customer through FB who has worse done by same chap.

Were they a reputable company or some Facebook friend of a friend?

He knowingly put your private information into the public domain.

Sounds like a GDPR violation to me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78,577 ✭✭✭✭Victor

Contact the business, by phone / email and then writing.

If no response, go to https://dataprotection.ie/

Drop me a PM with the link to the business and I'll see if I can talk to someone in Google - however, that person might only do maps, not reviews.

You will find they have no insurance and nothing to sue them for. These crowds are rife at the moment. They fit their own ikea kitchen and think it’s easy. Then they set up a company doing them and realize it’s harder than they thought and spoof it until the wheels fall off.
There’s plenty of people getting done over by bathroom crowds as well.

Hmmm. I remember dealing with a kitchen company in Swords in the past year that had awful reviews, which reflected my own experience. I just checked and the entire company's existence seems to have been wiped from the internet with the exception of a single reference to its link to a tile business elsewhere in the city. Pretty impressive.

I am sure they have insurance and everything, just very poor

    I’d head for Clontarf.

That’s always a good starting point.

Are they the crowd showing up on Google as "Boyle" ??

Not sure how they done this as I thought to change and address or phone number on a Google Business listing required either postal or phone validation

I've dealt with G Business in the past. I'll see if I can dig up a contact path though I reckon it's not gonna be an easy one to get fixed

Try Google support or get more people to spam his reviews.

Another thing you could do would be to create a webpage criticizing his business.

Try and get the domain name the same as his company or similar and optimize it SEO wise for his business. It will always be displayed in organic rankings once it has been indexed by Google .

Topic and content of page could be “why you should never do business with ....”
that’ll fix him. Some stroke he had pulled changing google business name to your site.

    phone number
Perhaps tell anyone who rings that the business (and gets you) is no longer accepting new business?

Google does that based on the address and marker, which it seems he changed to an address in Co. Laois?

I've submitted the companies old details as an edit but they might not take. On the Google listing, you can click "Suggest an Edit" and either submit a correction, report the Streetview element or just report the whole listing

Contact a solicitor, as it sounds like harassment.

Also, ask the solicitor if you can liquidate/close the business, if he has your address listed as the business address?

Looks like GMB has withdrawn the direct phone support number but you can submit an issue and request a call back. From experience, their support staff are good and UK or US based

Take screen shots of everything and get onto the data protection commissioner on Tuesday morning.

    Don't engage any further.
Nothing good is going to happen at ten o'clock after a sunny Sunday of a bank holiday weekend.

What a dumb move on their part. Now a search for their business results in a "Permanently Closed" badge.

OP, you can report the DP breach as 'other legal removal issue' here:

    https://support.google.com/legal/contact/lr_legalother?product=knowledgegraph&hl=en-IE

I didn't bother checking this thread cause the title was a bit banal, but what an odd story.

The business reviews on google are a bit odd, only 3 and all from the last 2 days.. did you try get a few people to put up reviews and this was his retaliation? Unbelievably petty, and a bit creepy to be honest, he's changed it back again too..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,863 ✭✭✭seachto7

Create a blogpost about it so when people do search it might always be there in the search results

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,828 ✭✭✭5rtytry56

OP , your predicament reminds me of online courses on coursera.

I gave this up though, because of the amount of marks awarded that depended on "Peer review" - other course participants. This had the effect of some course participants like myself getting some bad grades for some genuinely good assignments.

    You have an uphill battle.

Do you genuinely want to do something about this? I can put you in touch with a solicitor. GDPR and contract law specialists.(not me or family) Let me know

    Hi,
I have written before about ongoing issue with a kitchen company based at axis business Park, Tullamore.
We have to date still no finished kitchen, and we have been contacted now by a number of others who are in the same boat.

What can be done about this?
Have written reviews online but guy who owns kept calling me and then put up my private details. There seems to be no where to complain someone like this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

    Merging threads together and reopened.

OP - if someone has made your details public without your permission, then that is against the GDPR and you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
