Firstly, apologies if this is not the correct forum for this thread mods. I am considering undertaking a course in the area of sports therapy in the upcoming academic year and I would like to get some feedback from any boardsies who are certified as sports therapists or anyone who is familiar with the work of a sports therapist. I would like to get some information regarding the availability of work, future careers opportunities and also the remuneration that is available to a qualified sports therapist in the Dublin area.

You'd mostly be looking for work in either an already established physio clinic giving sports massage or you'd have to set up on your own in a clinic or with sports clubs. Very few jobs out there for someone who is specifically a 'sports therapist' as it's not really regulated / recognised in Ireland.

Plenty of people set up on their own with success.

Many thanks for your reply. Do many people use it as a base and progress into other areas of postgraduate study? Physiotherapy and exercise medicine have been mentioned to me. Didn't realise that it wasn't regulated in Ireland. I'm guessing that the Society of Sports Therapists isn't recognized here.
