Round 5 of this magnificent season. Back to the track of pre-season testing. Mercedes looked mighty there, but since then won only one race and this was lucky.

Not a bad day for Mercedes , or Mclaren for that matter seem to be on pace. Bottas just seems to be on fire . That is a very big gap.
Hats of to Gasly , Apprently his top 10 time was set on a Medium tyre everyone else was on soft or Supersoft.
Williams seem very poor . Renault Renault struggling alot as well

    Kmag has a ban coming

I like KMag but that incident happened in FP1, it's completely unnecessary, and it's reckless. A ban might do him good

Well the FIA were the ones that stupidly authorised the use of halo mirrors last month before anyone was using them.

Yep not sure what they expected when they made decision.

Elsewhere, Kimi with an engine issue, didn't sound very healthy

Much closer running at the top in FP2. Renault are well off the pace this weekend . and I am not sure what Williams are at , or Hartley they are well of the pace of everone else . Vandoorne well clear of Alonso but i assume different practice plans .

Hartley has completely destroyed his car in that crash at the end of FP3. The back of the car fell off when the marshals were recovering his car.

Hartley making a mistake through fastest corner and damaged his car

Walked away from it but car looks wrecked at the back

Not very often you see the engine separate from the chassis like that. Some shunt.

I think its a great idea. Now if they could ban Sponsorship on the inside of the Halo, and maybe have the drivers name/car number instead.

Don't reckon that Toro Rosso will be going anywhere for qualy

Edit: the car won't be fixed in time, no surprise there as that was some major damage

Building up a car from scratch by the look of it, so no surprise that it wont be ready

Sky looks a bit dark in Spain, wonder will we get some rain

It's looking pretty gloomy alright. Some rain could mix things up nicely

Tub of the crashed Toro Rosso was okay so not a complete rebuild

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Might just be Sky being Sky, but they made the point that Hartley is under pressure which he is. And then they said that Pascal Wehrlein is possibly in the frame should Toro Rosso decide to make a change

Think Hulkenburg wont be in Q2, didn't sound in the right gear

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

The onscreen graphic for Alonso had it down as medium tyre, must surely be wrong? He couldn't possibly be P7 on the medium

Hulk out and Stroll in the barrier again

Hopefully the race pace is better for Force India, disappointed with that qualy performance.

While the Williams is clearly a sh1tbox, Stroll does look a bit out of his depth.

And great stuff from Leclerc again, faster than Checo, P14 is a solid result.

Stellar lap by Hamilton, but it's clear that the tyre changes helped Mercedes significantly. A mid-season change in regulations was uncalled for. Teams need to adapt to regulations, not the opposite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,710 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

GP2 starting off with a damp track. Should be entertaining.

I don't see the issue with the tyre changes, article on the F1 website explains the logic clear enough. Changes have been made because of teams moaning in practically every season of F1.

As Brundle said, since 1991 he never saw a car go off at the exit of turn 12. I do like Martin :)

Thunder storms overnight, GP3 race starting wet

Looking dry for the race, bit of unexpected rain would be nice though

GP2 having a few issues with tyres, one or two punctures in the final laps

Yeah the track is dry, just a few damp patches offline in the middle of the lap between turns 4 & 8. But it's going to be a green track for the GP, some might struggle with tyre temps at the start
