On a side note, I’ve sent this article to quite a few people. About 3-4 already have said to me they still want Real to beat Liverpool regardless of doping. That highlights just how little people care about doping in certain sports. These same people would never cheer on Gatlin for example.

Think it highlights more how much people dislike Liverpool.

Both teams are dirty. Pool has one of the smallest squads and yet performing amazing football with the same players every week.

I disagree. Our sport is held to higher standards by the general public than other sports are. Why is this so? Why is it ok for one sport to do virtually no drug testing, while another gets slated everytime it catches somebody?

Our sport is suffering hugely as a result of this hypocrisy. Yes we have big problems, but if the true extent of doping in other sports was known, then athletics wouldn’t have such a bad rep in the eyes of the public. It bothers me when I hear people say they don’t want their kids involved in sports like athletics because of its association with drugs.

I want the lid lifted on other sports. We simply are handicapping ourselves otherwise.

Mainly to do with athletics its the individual that's slated and not much money in it. Soccer is a team sport so less likely to be individuals blamex and loaded with money

This article gives no one any reason not to slate athletics. Yes other sports are as bad, but this doesn't excuse athletics from criticism. All we should care about on the athletics forum is the state of athletics, how dirty it is, but also the great athletes that we believe are clean.

    Other forums for other sports.

Indeed, Ewan has written extensively about a prominent irish athletes links to a dodgy Spanish coach

Disagree here, fact is football teams (or supporting them) are quite a large part of quite a lot of people’s lives, the temptation to suspend disbelief is therefore a powerful force. Outside of major championships I’m not sure that many folk give a hoot about pro athletics hence nobody has anything to lose by castigating athletics as dirty.

Of course anybody with half a brain knows that anybody at the top of any sport is almost certainly doping and will almost certainly never be caught.

Look at some of the **** we are supposed to swallow lately, people winning grand slams without dropping a set in their late 30’s, boxers winning world titles at 8 weight classes, cyclists making solo attacks 80kms out.

Sport was great because it was an escape from the horrors of modern life, now not only does it reflect them it amplifies them

This...Froome today! Absolutely horrible to see for true fans of cycling. I'm starting to believe this is a fight that can't be won. Froome hasn't riden the Giro since he was disqualified for holding on to a motorbike on a mountain stage..

The war on doping will never be won. Since ancient warriors taking magic mushrooms to win to the first modern olympic marathon having drug dq's from eat poison and brandy to tour de France cyclist taking speed just to wake up in the morning. Drugs are part of human culture and will forever be. Weakly funded anti-doping cannot beat multi billion dollar big pharma. One thing I will say is that these days, most of the issues are around the likes of Salbutamol, l-carnitine and Tue's which is a big step forward from EPO, HGH and Anabolic steriods. The fact that that people are resorting to these ahead of wonderdrugs of old says that some progress is definetely being made.

Froome performance was terrible. He has just destroyed his reputation even more, actually not much left anyhow.

That’s an unbelievably crass and improper thing to say about an entire organization and its people...

Not a shred of proof, just an I’m going to throw out an accusation that these people are cheats....

    You really have no standards.

What are these PEDs that allow “amazing football”?

I know PEDs can generally allow more energy and stamina, but the ones that allow amazing football...where do you get them?

Don't know why I bother but you must understand that over a long season and even 90 minutes for that matter if one team of amazing footballers is clean and the others are doped then the little words energy and stamina just might come into play. And then there's tennis! If a clean 30 year old and a doped 33 year old are battling it out in the 5th set, I know where my money would be. All the skills in the world ain't going to help if your fullback is 10 yards behind mine for that 92nd minute cross. Same as that lovely cross court volley that you have in your locker ain't much good if you're too tired to get to the ball. Tell me you understand that. Just once. Please.

Well, don’t bother. And if you had bothered to actually read what I wrote you would have seen that I mentioned cardio and stamina..

I am asking about this “amazing football?” Not this amazing stamina in the latter parts and extra parts of games.

Another thing. Where is this clear and obvious examples of these players exhibiting PED performance stamina feats in soccer games? Am I missing something? What is it that’s clear and visible to you guys where you somehow know “oh look what he is doing in the 95th minute. That can’t be. That has to be PEDs....”

Tell me it can’t be something as ignorant as team A beat team B in a fast paced enduring soccer game, therefore team A could only have done that by cheating...

And why, if the pool are so clearly dirty, are they still not able to win the league?

Are the PEDs for skill and talent failing them? The stamina PEDs working...
