Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Doing a GAA coaching course, having never played?

    Just looking for some feedback on this, thought I might get better responses here than in the PLC forum.

    I've always been an avid GAA follower, but unfortunately never played beyond the age of ten due to some physical limitations. Currently in my early 20s and noticed Colaiste Stiofan Naofa in Cork have a GAA coaching degree. Do you think a non-player has any business trying to get involved in such a programme or is past playing experience essentially a necessity to be in anyway decent at coaching? It's definitely something I'd love to get involved in but at the same time I don't want to waste my time for a year if it'd be completely pointless

    Of course

    some of the best coaches I ever had never played the game at a high level.
    often times when you learn how to coach something from scratch you can really understand the small technical details that allow a player to perform skills correctly

    Definitely do it. even if you never do anything how will it be a wasted year if you are learning more about something you love.
    get yourself garda vetted for gaa and camogie straight away and offer your services to a club near you
    Is it hurling or football you are interested in?

    Join a local club and they will put together a foundation level course for new coaches
