Ryanair is to fly from Cork Airport to Poznan with a twice-weekly service to the Polish city starting in March 2019 as part of Ryanair’s Summer 2019 schedule.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said fares will start from €14.99 each way for travel from September to October next year, and which are available to book until midnight on Friday, September 7, on www.ryanair.com

Meanwhile, the airline also launched special return flights between Dublin and Bristol for Leinster’s European Cup clash against Bath on December , following “huge demand from fans”.

The rugby specials will depart Dublin at 08.15hrs on Saturday, December 8, and return from Bristol at 20.10hrs on Sunday, December 9.

    Nice to see Poznan back.

Originally one of the Wizz Air routes until Ryanair ran them out of town and subsequently dropped the routes, Poznan being one of them. A link home for the Polish community and also a nice city break destination.

Nah, Poznan is a kip, much better cities and towns to visit in Poland. Good for the Polish community for returning though

Really? I quite liked it but then again I used to live in Eastern Europe and many of those cities blended together after a while.

Wroclaw and Gdansk are also served by Ryanair from Cork, I'd agree they are nicer along with Warsaw and Krakow being obvious choices.

Good news on new route to Malta with Ryanair announced today. This brings total to 3 new routes announced in last week with speculation that Aer Lingus is about to announce another tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,867 ✭✭✭lisasimpson

Should be popular both as a week in thw sun destination and also ideal for a weekens city break.A dont forget the Aer Lingus route to Lisbon starting the wnd of October I think. Things looking up for the Airport the last few years.
Have to laugh at some of the social media comments.. complain there are no decent routes from Cork and then Malta is announced and people complain but its ryanair

Sunday and Thursday are great days for the Malta flight in fairness. Hopefully it's a success.

Hardly as advanced and secure though?

EDIT: Posted this in the wrong thread, was supposed to be on the Apple thread. No idea how it ended up here...oops..

Cork-Budapest from April 4th next year, operating on Thursdays and Sundays. Bookable on the FR website

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,255 ✭✭✭kevinandrew

That’s four new routes by Ryanair from Cork announced in the past couple of weeks, a pleasant surprise to see them growing here. All of them are at pretty low frequencies but still welcome additions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 985 ✭✭✭revelman

I don't want to be too negative but I'd be interested to see what Ryanair do with the existing summer services e.g. Bergamo, Bordeaux and Carcassone. If they maintain these as well as the new routes then it is indeed very positive.

Low frequencies but perfect for a weekend city break

Fair point, usually anything with Ryanair comes with a catch. None of those cities are on sale just yet and the Budapest route appears to match the current Bergamo schedule.

Can't see why not, they enjoy very healthy loads and have been around since 2010, CCF started back in 2007! Some nice year-round based expansion from FR, well done to the team in Cork.

Have they specified the routes are year round? I've no doubt Luton and Poznan are but Budapest and Malta are questionable.

A lot of Hungarians resident in Cork, coupled with Christmas Markets as above.

Aer Lingus Chief Executive states that they will be making announcements in the coming weeks on expansion from Cork airport, focusing mainly on European city destinations. Good news for Cork on the back of Ryanair’s recent announcements.

Naples now on Ryanair booking engine from Cork - July and August 2019. Santander is also coming up on the booking engine but no dates yet.

Two new routes from EI for Summer 2019 to Dubrovnik, Croatia (2 weekly) and the return of Nice, France (2 weekly). Both launching May 2019.

Was just thinking the other day at Dublin airport, would there be demand again for internal feeder flights to/from cork?
Believe there was up until fairly recently until the PSO ended. You’d think there’d be sufficient business for a couple of Aer Lingus regionals per day, especially to connect with long haul destinations. Not massive planes to fill and for business travellers would be especially handy vs a three hour journey back down to Cork. Thought?

Discussed again and again and again, the outcome of which is people say "There is surely/definitely a market" and other people say "the markets obviously not sufficient as nobody flies the route" Perhaps even some go for both those points. Despite these, there is no route to cork, has not been for a number of years now and I fail to see this situation changing in the future.

Ryanair used to do it, but not with connecting flights and with 737s which were way OTT.

I'm in that camp that Aer Lingus could do a few ATRs per day for connecting flights. But what time of day would be a big thing.

You’d imagine one early morning and evening would do the trick. They seem to do all the main U.K. cities from cork, no reason to think a Dublin flight wouldn’t be just as full as those

You don't have a motorway and an hourly train between Cork and any UK city.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,977 ✭✭✭Chris_5339762

THe motorway killed the Ryanair flights yes, but the train to Heuston and then the 747 bus from there to the airport I reckon would be the poorer option when compared with a flight. Same with Aircoach POSSIBLY.

And with Dublin traffic getting worse and worse especially along the M50....

I'd love to see it. And this is not just because I'm moving to Cork soon.

On that note I'd love to see Cork to Belfast soon but I feel that might be more likely as it would solve land border Brexit issues.

Dublin local services have nothing to do with Cork Airport!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭theguzman

I was in Cork airport today for the first time in a few years and noticed the the pub and restaurant upstairs outside security has now been movied airside inside security. Other renovations seem to be happening also next to the Restaurant pub area, I wonder what is being built?

Sorry to bump this thread but have a question.

The government announced a package for the airport today and includes €5 million for runway redevelopment. Anyone know what this includes? Are they lengthening it?

And a great time to do that as well with traffic levels so low currently.

I traveled 5 timesduring COVID, once in cork, very sad state of affairs to go from a bustling city to a deserted Airport :(

Is KLM the only Airline doing AMS at the mo? I need to get to Rotterdam before Christmas and i cant see any EI flights but id assume they will resume after lockdown.

They are. Until April I believe.

Today Cork airport has exactly zero flights. Did the staff go to work I wonder?

Planning permission for house 400yards from main runway that was granted by CCC has been overturned by AN BORD PLANALA.

Which is quite odd, considering a number of houses have been built a lot closer to the runway in the last 10 years.

Apologies for resurrecting this very old thread but i can't see any more recent general Cork Airport thread.

Does anyone know if the Ryanair Cork - Naples flights are due to return for the Summer 2022 season?

These were operating in 2021 but haven't been announced for 2022 yet. I think these were operated by Malta Air in 2021 so obviously not Cork based aircraft so maybe this would mean a later announcement but not sure. Would appreciate if anyone know any more, thanks!

Just looking at the new runway I'm wondering did they level it out a bit? It doesn't look as much of a slope on the 34 end or maybe its just my eyes deceiving me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭Jack1985

SAS look set to announce a new Cork-Scandinavian route for Summer 2025 if current rumours come to fruition..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,941 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

that would be a pleasant surprise. Would assume CPH?

edit - they just announced 15 new routes for S25 and Cork wasn’t on the list so I guess it’s not happening.

If you go onto the Skyscanner mobile app and select anytime in July, anywhere in the world and direct flights, it lists Izmir in Turkey from Cork Airport. When you click it, it doesn't show a direct route. However, when you just click anywhere in July and anywhere in the world, it lists multiple Turkish routes with a transfer, only narrowing down to just Izmir when you choose direct

    Hmm
