If someone sent you an email, and your address was for example 'xxxxx@yahoo.ie but they sent it to 'xxxxx@yahoo.com' instead, will you still receive the email?

No, it has to be the exact email address.

Why not test it yourself?

Send an empty email to yourself (or a pal) at the wrong yahoo address and see whether or not it arrives!

It depends on the company and how they've configured their set up. Some companies will own xyz.com, xyz.net, xyz.ie, xyz.co.uk... and just set them all up to go to the one place. They could even own xyz.com and zyx.com, and set them up to go to the same place. Other companies will keep them separate, so that john.smith@xyz.ie doesn't clash with john.smith@xyz.co.uk. Sometimes the owners of xyz.ie and xyz.co.uk won't even be the same company, so obviously there's no crossover there.

The only way to know for sure is either by testing, or getting confirmation directly from the domains' owners

If sender didn't got "undelivered" bounce back - email account exist and message was delivered.
Was message delivered to intended recipient? - different story. See post above.
Hope no confidential data was leaked out..:D

It's like if you phone 087xxxxxxx instead of 085xxxxxxx.
There's absolutely no connection between the two.

Im not great at long email addresses myself. More times than not I get letter or full stop wrong :)

Current world population estimated 7.6 billion - Wikipedia
Yahoo mail users(as per 2017) estimated 225 million - expandedramblings.com

3% WORLD POPULATION TO BE EUTHANIZED :eek::eek:

Shouldn't be using Yahoo anyway
