Not disgusting - its nature. The bird is trying to live as well. Nature is violent and bloody and very rarely pretty. But it's not wrong, it just is what it is.

That's true but I can't look at it rationally as I have emotional attachments to animals like cats and dogs.

When I see the eagle strangling the cat it turns the pit of my stomach. I want to wring that fcking bird's neck with my bare hands.

The eagle is probably an endangered species. Would you wipe out a species cos you think kitties are cute? What about the fact that cats kill thousands of birds, even teeny cute ones? One cat single handedly wipes out the Stephens Island Wren.

Emotional attachments are well and good, but they shouldn’t blind you to reality. I apologise if the above paragraph seems harsh. I don’t mean it to be, but it is true.

Tbh that would be morally wrong. There's no point carrying out vengeance on an animal - it isn't capable of making a choice the same way we are. If it was a person you were on about then sure, go ahead and wring their neck coz they're fúcking savages, but it's not, it's an animal.

Like all animals it is doing what it knows to do, what it has evolved to do, and that is feed itself and feed it's young and try to survive. It's an apex predator, just like cats.

I agree with you kylith, everything you say is true but like I mentioned earlier I can't think rationally about the subject.

Even the thought of any man or beast hurting my dog or cat stirs violent emotions in me.

It's silly I know but I really can't help it.

Slightly off topic, magpies will do that as well. Kittens shouldn't be let out unsupervised.

Lost one like that way back; feral kitten,

Caring is never silly ; always admirable and strong. Thank you

You cannot ascribe morality to a wild animal or nature in general. It doesn't work that way, it is neither good nor bad, it just is what it is. You can't change it, you can't make non-sentient creatures suddenly sentient (at least not yet), and even if you could it would still have to find something to hunt and kill and eat in order to survive. The eagle can't choose to be a vegetarian any more than the sea can choose to not be wet.

I walk past that place a few times a day. I actually walked past it 10 minutes ago. My favorite coffee shop (Proper Order) is a few doors down and I work across the square.
I thought it was a strange idea when it opened but there's always people in there.

We must have passed each other a thousands times :)

I've peered in to that cat 'cafe' on occasion. It is strange. Lots of people playing with the kitties wearing a glazed look on their faces. I dunno. Where do the kitties sleep?

So do these kittens get the boot when they get big in favour of a new batch of kittens?
Can see fully grown cats being as accommodating.

The cats live in the premises apparently. They have some cats available for adoption after they're socialised. The Cat Lounge is not a rescue/charity, it's commercial.

I have a nagging feeling they might have "staged" the cat-napping for publicity. If they did - it worked ;)

Jesus I know, very upsetting. The poor cat. :(

I wish somebody would of shot that fcking bird.

    Horrid beasts.

Hawk kills the cat, cat kills the mouse, mouse kills a lump of cheese.

    It's the circle of life.

    Seriously......why would someone do this?!?
So they paid into this place...so did they think they get to take home one as a free gift?

The only stealing I feel that is acceptable is from the stationary cupboard in work!

    Why would someone do this?

If someone wants to do something for whatever reason and can do something, they will. Anything is possible with other people. Good or bad. Things so revolting you could not dream it up in your own worst nightmare.
