Time to get the beers and popcorn....

Meant to add still amazed at the medical treatment available in the Egyptian prison system, his hand looked like it was never injured.....

“There were times after where I would wish I could go back to my prison cell,” said the 22-year-old.

I think he had to go through a terrible ordeal and the Irish were right to push for his release but I don't care what he has to say otherwise.

He was on the receiving end of a cynical line of questioning usually reserved for politicians, not innocent people who've been incarcerated without trial in a dictatorship for several years. To be fair, he answered the questions very well, but that was never going to be enough for all the racists on the internet, many of whom refuse to even recognise the fact that he's an Irish citizen.

Oh no, I said 'racist'. I wonder if Boards' regular racist bores will all pile on now with a tedious chorus of "SJW" "libtard" "virtue signaller" "nothing's ever racist" "what's racist about..."

So attending a protest in Egypt wasn't?

Ha wouldn't be surprised if he returned to talk about his LLS ordeal.

    Google him

    I know him.
Just guessed he'd flew off the radar, but obviously he's seeking more publicity.

So he would happily go back to his cell where he was tortured and starved ,
But still managed to bulk up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,795 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Is it a case of him somehow believing that he had the full backing of the nation and would be dining out on his experience for many years to come then following late late coming to realise than people dont buy his line of crap and him quickly disappearing off the radar.

Abraham Hallawa complains that his Late Late show appearance was the “biggest mistake” of his life

To be fair, I’d say there are a lot of people who feel the same about being on the Late Late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,661 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Everyone complains about the late late show.
Just proves he's a genuine Irishman

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭pauliebdub

It was a car crash interview that didn't generate the wave of public sympathy that he might have expected. He would have been better off not doing the interview at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,461 ✭✭✭Bob Harris

I'd say walking out of the cinema was a bigger mistake.

You have to hand it to Egyptian jails though, they really feed the inmates. A week out of jail and he was as fat as a christmas turkey on the late late.

He should have thought twice before he went on either the LLS or that Egyptian holiday.
No sympathy for this guy whatsoever.

I was one of the rare few who contributed to the thread on that late late who wasn't totally dead set against the guy before he even opened his mouth and even I have to say he can have very few complaints about that interview: It was pretty soft in all honesty.

He strikes me as not the sharpest tool in the toolshed.

You can't blame him in a way. The media disgraced themselves in their approach by treating the public like fools by distorting the truth on the issue. They had their own agenda but most of the public were somewhat cynical despite the constant barrage of one-sided, unquestioning coverage of the issue.

I feel the exact same way anytime I've been unfortunate enough to watch the Late Late

Like many, I don’t believe his version of events at all but I won’t be going to march over a decision in a court of law in another country. That would be silly.

    Oh dear.
Didn't take long for the racist accusations to appear here just because the Halawa topic was brought up again. Trying to shut down a conversation by claiming racism doesn't work anymore.

Halawa himself is the reason why he is the newspapers again.
Many people believe he is a liar and a fraud.
When he said at the University of Limerick that "There were times after where I would wish I could go back to my prison cell"; it tells us a lot about his story.

Who would want to go back to a place where he suffered "four years of maltreatment" and where there is now "damage to his health caused by his incarceration" (Times Article)

The more he speaks publicly about his holiday trip to Egypt, the more his story does not make sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,854 ✭✭✭✭silverharp

he should go on dancing with the stars next year

The story never made sense, the b.s. spouted by his sister's on a regular basis made the story even more nonsensical.

Tubridy was abysmally weak on the subjects that mattered, as he was probably instructed to do

And just like the crap in Belfast this week, everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Poor egyptian irish guy minding his own business on holiday and got arrested during a political protest. Awwwww.

Play the race card, "poor irishman locked up by the big bad egyptians" now everyone wants to "bring him home"......

    ****ing gob****e.

He came home whinging he wanted privacy, quickly realised people were grand with the idea of him disappearing into obscurity because we were sick hearing about him and next thing he is going on radio with the sisters telling the same old tired story nobody is interested in.

Fast forward a few months and here he is again whinging as usual.

Now, now. He didn't attend a protest. He was on holiday in Egypt and he happened to stumble upon a protest and the shortest route away from that protest was via the stage.

His story didn't add up given the known facts, he did himself no favours going on the LL (or indeed the radio interview he did in Cork with his sister which was arguably more damaging for him), and it would seem that there isn't as much support for him in the real world as he might have expected - ie: easy money from his tale and media publicity for him now that he's back.

Best thing he could do is get on with his life and give up trying to be a "celebrity" or "influencer" or whatever he's at.

no . just a few posters on boards only. as far as the rest of us are concerned, he was acquited, released, job done.

Well he said himself that he would rather be back in a cell, fecking let him go I say. He's a muppet that has lied about being starved, tortured, and shot in the hand that was so bad he nearly lost the use of. Yet somehow he was put in a cell with someone, by a miracle somehow cured him with whatever was lying around.

For someone that was starved he came out fat.
    How does that happen?

    .

Yeah, but he wasn't found innocent, was he. So therefore he must be guilty. Cant be having one rule for one foreign court case and a different rule for another.
