How to explain termination after probation

Need some advice on how to explain being let go after probation in a way that means I wont be swiftly shown the door by a future employer. I have spoken to a few recruitment agencies and have told them its a 6 month contract which is not being renewed, is this the best approach or can anyone suggest better?
