Too fat to too skinny

    Hello all

    Would massively appreciate some advice.
I'm 39 years old and at the end of last year was not in the greatest shape I've ever been, weighing 203lbs at 5ft 11 inches. I also had a bad back which was limiting exercise and movement but post physio and lumbar steroid injections is vastly improved.

Any way due to the bad back I really became disciplines and focussed on improving my core and losing weight. Not that I trust my electronic weighing scales but my BMI was in the obese category with 33% fat levels.

So I started cycling on Zwift turbo trainer, cut out all "bad" foods (no takeaways, treats, little simple carbs, and little alcohol), eating lots of protein, and every day I do Pilates and every 3rd day I do a home weights exercise too (chest press, dumbells etc). So since start of year I'm now down from 203lbs to 182lbs with supposedly 24% of that fat. I've not measured properly with the clamp thingy mind.

So while I'm massively delighted and my back is so much better with less weight and a stronger core, I'm now being a little vain.

I still have fat tho nowhere near as much as what i had. But I've gone (at least framewise) skinny. I'm kinda half skinny half toned half fat. I've had to buy new clothes for work for instance and don't want have to spend a fortune on more

I'd like to lost the rest of the fat, but I'm worried I'll keep getting skinnier in my frame.

Should I up my protein and keep the weight regime and maybe reduce the cardio? Or should I keep cutting the fat and once I'm toned then start to build up muscle through protein and weights?

Is it impossible to do both? Advice appreciated!!
