How to take payment on Chrono24?

Hi,

I have finally had a reasonable offer on my JLC Reverso I put up on Chrono24. I have a private buyer in Germany looking to buy but she seems as confused as I am about how to complete the transaction.

I set up the Escrow service for her as that seems the safest bet for two first time C24 users. But I think when she saw the Escrow fee she was put off and is now saying lets just do the payment through C24 but not the escrow. I can't figure out if this is a thing or not? Do C24 actually have a payment service? I was assuming we would be dealing directly (i.e. an IBAN transfer to me then I ship) if she doesn't want to use the C24 escrow.

Anyone with any experience here?

Last and only time I bought there I think I used paypal. Are you registered with them? I think it's 3% fee, but could be wrong.

Thanks for the reply, all sorted, in the end she went for the Chrono escrow, the safest for both of us I think.

Now to find a nice Max Bill...

Hmm, their buyer protection is supposed to be pretty questionable. Probably better for you than Paypal though, given that sellers don't seem to get much of a fair deal if a buyer acts the arse. I bought a watch from a private seller on C24, and the 2 of us found it a really unclear and confusing payment process. Fees seemed high too.

Yes as a seller I definitely didn't want Paypal, you hear horror stories of chargebacks weeks after a sale. And yes the Chrono24 payment process is difficult to understand, mainly I think because they are trying to fudge who has to pay the payment fees!

Does the seller get charged too? I know I had to pay a few hundred as the buyer, which pissed me off a little.

The seller pays for the ad up front, based on the listing value of the watch. You get that refunded if the watch doesn't sell, though it that is only available in a certain window after a period of time so you have to watch it.

For private sellers, they can only use the escrow service which pushes the payment fees onto the buyer. For dealers, they use the Trusted Checkout service where they take the fees. I suspect they are actually the same thing but Chrono is picking the side who will be most willing to pay in each scenario

I'm thinking of selling on Chrono24 too, would prefer a local sale but adverts.ie seems to be a very slow burner for watch sellers! Do you mind me asking how you shipped your watch? I know some couriers won't carry watches and sending through an post isn't ideal either.

Not sure if there is any carrier in ROI that covers watches in transit?

I was able to send one fully insured through a place on Lombard street (across from Pearse Street Dart station), but it was very expensive - I think over EUR70 to the UK. I've just sent one through An Post and anxiously checking the tracking notes.

I haven't shipped it yet as the buyer's payment hasn't come through yet - fingers crossed it will! I googled and found Eurosender, who I think are actually a broker for other carriers, but they offer their own insurance, up to 2000eur. I scanned the t&c's and couldn't see any exclusions for jewelry or watches. 70eur in total to Germany, not too bad.
