I was browsing through my local disk files today and I discovered old folders from about 5 years ago that I thought I deleted. I have CCleaner on my laptop and I use regularly. I'm wondering how does files survived and what I can do to get rid of them?

Simplist answer is that you didn't delete those files 5 years ago.

CCCleaner will only delete temporary files, caches etc.
Temporary files and locations that by their very nature disposable. eg. c:\windows\temp

It absolutely will not touch normal files like Word docs, programs, photos (outside of cached ones downloaded from the net) no matter how old they are.
