1. If the priests that have been “gagged” don’t agree with the Pope then I don’t know why they would want to be there. They really should start their own religion with rules that they do agree with, don’t you think?
2. If he went to Tuam what would you like him to do there and how would his visit to Tuam benefit anyone?

He's the elected monarch of a church going back thousands of years with billions of followers across planet Earth. How can it be hard to fathom that people might want to see him?

yes well Colin Farrell was once a nobody on Ballykissangel, now hes a Hollywood superstar who people would flock to catch a glimpse of. The Pope has put in the hours giving top class masses, he deserves the adoration:p

1.2 Billion catholics or thereabouts and quite a few non practising so not quite in the billions.

I can see this is a big deal to those of very religious devotion.

Honestly outside that I can’t see why this is a big deal for anyone else. He will come, say mass, have meetings and leave, nothing will change, there will be no long lasting effects, we will all go on with our lives with no change.

The Pope (any pope) is one of the most famous people in the world at any given time. A visit from him is a big deal in any country he goes to and is a big ticket news item.
It won’t be any different here.

I was in Poland at the time of the popes visit in '06, and prohibition was in place for the duration of his visit to the towns he was in, to the extent that I ordered an ice cream sundae that normally comes with a chocolate and amaretto sauce and the waitress sheepishly told me that it would only be chocolate because of the popes visit!
I wonder will they try the same here, imagine it, traffic chaos and not a drop of drink to be had!
