Pity they wouldn't show another couple of club games on delay instead of that muck in America, though they probably haven't that many units to send around to games here.

It's desperate yoke altogether. No wonder the players get frustrated and start flaking one another. Not sure what the point of it is. Few at it and don't imagine it is televised stateside? Not on a Sunday with all the NFL games at same time.

I'm watching exactly that instead myself.

Hopefully it will be more competitive than many are expecting.

    Tad of hyperbole there.

I mean Corofin are rightly favourites but I expect it'll be a very competitive game and the standard in Connacht club football is nearly always pretty good.

It's the semi final, Mullinalaghta & Eire Og are playing the other semi final in Longford. But in reality have to fancy whoever wins between Kilmacud Crokes & Portlaoise to win Leinster.

what genius decided on this schedule?

Only plausible one is that Gaoth dobháir is an Irish speaking area.

High scoring hurling match against , well ….

    They can’t be serious?

Showing a live Ulster pulling and dragging final ahead of a cracking hurling final!

    I give up!!

Pure audience thing I'd imagine, they think more people will watch the football then the hurling I'd say

Ulster final has been a decent game in awful conditions, fair play to Cassidy for dragging his teammates away from the Ref at the end, you won't get much favours getting in his face like that.

So extra rubbish then. That's a good thing?

Referee doing very well with the big decisions in the Ulster Final. Got the Gaoith Dobhair throw correct at the end of the game and got that Red card spot on. Two punches to the head feigning tackles on the ball.

Really poor from Carey and Scotstown will really miss him. Was playing well and has good Intercounty experience. Madness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,256 ✭✭✭Redsoxfan

Aye, two big calls and he got them both right. Some game given the conditions, even more so that it is being played on a disgrace of a pitch.

Had been looking forward to this football match all week and I have to say I've really enjoyed it, especially considering the conditions. Still up in the air at half-time in extra-time.

I wouldn't call it rubbish given the conditions, but at least its interesting. Stupid red card which might tip it in gweedores favour

Do yellow cards reset in Extra time now?

Kieran Hughes and McFearraigh just picked up yellows in ET after getting yellows in normal time. TG4 very confused.

I thought that was always the case?

You would have thought so but for years it wasn't. If you had a man sent off you got back to 15 but yellows used carry over. But it made sense to fix it I just can't remember when it was fixed

It is always interesting to hear Donegal Irish being spoken, usually we just hear southerners speaking Irish but Donegal gives a good insight into the sound of ancient Ulster.

Scotstown have only themselves and the pitch to blame. Hadn't the football brain to work the most critical score of the game - an equaliser, and they had the chance to do it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

Well despite my post above, TG4 made the right call!

Football was a bit bizarre. Not a great fan of the extra time in finals having witnessed them in Dublin and the hurling one in Munster on TV a few weeks back, but certainly adds to the drama for the spectator.

Tbf gaoth dobhair is also the largest gaeltacht parish in ireland, and the vast majority of the players and supporters would speak irish on the pitch and at home. Ergo, a lot would also watch other tg4 programming, a lot of which is also concentrated in the area
RnaG broadcast from gaoth dobhair and i think TG4 share that studio as well, so its also looking after their locality & core audience.
