Surprised about westwood - i use 2 other branches and they are always showing people around and taking them through options. I think they have to set up the walk around though

I think there used to be an Anytime Fitness in DL too? I see Results Fitness (currently in Blackrock) are opening in Park Pointe soon, that's a small group training type set up so might not be what you are looking for.

Westwood are oddballs when it comes to trying to get a clear answer from them. They usually insist on interviewing you first and seeing how much you earn before deciding how much they will charge you. Plenty of threads elsewhere in this forum with people confused about it.

With Ben Dunne's, you drive past the building and past the Dell on the left and you'll see the underground entrance. The BD area of the underground should be signposted there.

If you can stretch your catchment area up to Sandyford, there are a ton of options there, albeit without pools. You have Southside, Raw, BHAF and many others.

Anytime fitness open 24/7 just down from Bakers corner, there is also Underground fitness not far from it.

I think Value for money are the DLR ones, you can use Loughlinstown, monkstown and ballyogan (no pool) all classes included.

Its a pretty small Gym but never busy, same with the pool. I got it for €300 for the year.

The Dun Laoghaire Westwood is actually well worth a punt , if you can negotiate their irritating membership tactics.

Power cages/platforms which are almost always free any time of the day IME regardless of how busy the rest of the place is.

And the pool would probably be just what you're looking for.

Parking wise , the pavilion car park is part of the same complex but I'm not sure what arrangement Westwood have with them if any.

    Bizarre business model alright lol.

If you join there I wonder if you also have access to their other branches? Unfortunately I didnt get as far as any of these questions in my frustrating exchange this morning.

Yes. Membership (full or off-peak) also allows access to the one in Aston Quay and one or two others but not Sandymount, Leopardstown or Clontarf. In order to use those you would need to get an addition to your membership ("floating membership").

Huh, they must have changed it. The website does say access to 3 clubs
    Don't listen to me :D

Im looking for a gym close to Dun Laoghaire - can anyone comment on the below or add any Im not aware of? I need a gym that has parking and ideally one that isnt too busy at 7am as thats my workout time.

Pier Health Club - Royal Marine Hotel - Theyre looking for 744 for the year for here (or 590 upfront) and its very limited in terms of equipment. They do have free parking but there are endless problems with the ticketing machine not working properly. I was a member here but the membership was paid for and thats now over. The price makes it a non runner for what you get to pay privately. Although it does have a pool.

Westwood Dun Laoghaire - tried to view it this morning and they would not allow it nor did the person have any info re membership options. Any comments welcome - bit odd that I wasnt allowed to look at it at the time Id plan on using it - found that off putting. Do they have parking? Do they have a pool?

DLR Monkstown - viewed this yesterday. Excellent pricing and a lot of equipment, but I thought the gym area looked a bit cramped? I plan to try it out on a pay as you go.

Ben Dunne Cherrywood - didnt realise there was an underground car park and I couldnt find parking in the square outside it yesterday so I didnt view it. Obviously the pricing is great and they have a full range of equipment - anyone know how busy it is at 7am? No pool.

DLR Loughlinstown - plan on checking this out at lunchtime today - apparently a membership here or Monkstown allows you use of either (and another one) so might be a possibility.

Are there any others in the area Im unaware of? I use a mix of free weights, resistance machines, functional/core equipment and for cardio I use the treadmill, pool or occasional rower/bike. I used to be in a gym that had a summit climber and I loved it but I havent seen one anywhere else since. One of the big limitations in the Pier Health club was a sadly lacking free weights area - it just had one dumbell rack and no barbells at all. Couple of extremely light kettle bells scattered about but that was it.

I am in Ben Dunne Cherrywood. Use to be in DLR loughlinstown. BD is great value and has all the equipment including two of those step climbing machines. It is very busy gym but also very big. Usally go at evening but have been there in the morning and have had no problems getting on machinery. In the evenings can be hard getting a bench in the weights area but never a problem getting on any of the areobic machines. No pool but has parking.

DLR loughlinstown has a pool, parking but not as good of selection of equipment as BD Gym. It is smaller but also less busy.
