I turned up for work at 7 10. I stood in the snow until 8 15 when they decided to open the site. Feet were like ice by then. We all thought we’d be sent home about 11 but we had to stay until 2 15.
I’ve no intention of even setting my alarm for tomorrow.

    What about you?

A rumour spread around my site buses were stopping at 3. I got told to go home because I’d be trapped in town. I asked the busman and he said no.

    Thank you mr rumour starter.

Wasn't enough snow here to make a snowball yet the schools were closed and a lot of the shops closed early.

I was told 3 times I had to come in. I explained there was no buses or taxis and driving is a no no. They didn't care. Eventually they said ok fine, be in at 8am tomorrow. Bullsh*t

Defence Forces here so most of us are on standby.. Lads take the warnings from the National Emergency Co Ordination Center seriously and don't think 'it'll never happen to me', because it'll happen to someone and none of us are special or immune from danger.

    Be safe

I picked up the social about half one. I normally wouldn't have been up at that time but I wanted to see if I could get a few bob for the extra fuel allowance everyone is talking about.
Lazy f#ckers on the counter were moaning about wanting to go home early. No wonder the country is ruined.

Site was closed so I drove the missus to work in town. Not a bother driving, and not much traffic, happy days.

Did a full day today and intend on doing the same Thursday and Friday.

People just don't know how to drive in these conditions and with the amount of people buying a life times supply of bread and milk you would swear they will be house bound for months!

I was in 20 min late today and went home about 20 min early.

Will try and get in tomorrow and home early before the blizzard.

It's a very difficult situation. The work has to be done but they can't do anything without me.

Office closed today thursday and friday.

Any employer who goes against the advice of met eireann or the necg should be liable if anything happens to their employees going in or coming home.

This will be worse than Ophelia. Stay home amd stay safe.

Same here, and very sad reading of some stories here on employer attitudes. We're off until Friday at least. I'm from Poland and well used to snow driving but not a good idea on summer tires going through hills. Or worse, not great to be in a free falling car if it stops halfway the hill and starts sliding back.

sent home at 3.30 but would have been happy to finish out the day as I only work a 15 min walk from home. work closed for business tomorrow and Friday. would have been happy to go in but the chap who opens up the building has a bit of a drive so would be risky for him to get in.

Was off today anyway but expected in tomorrow for a full day and Friday. Obviously no customers in their right mind will turn up tomorrow for their car to be serviced

Did a full day today, as did my 5 employees. There was a job we were scheduled to do this week that I decided to push out to next week though. Down in the arse end of Kilkenny. 3 of them and meself are heading back in tomorrow morning as well. See how it's looking when I stick my beak out the door at lunchtime. Two of the lads are coming up to Dublin from Offaly and Kildare, so told them to take the day off and spend it with the family. One lad was bullin' about the racing in Dundalk being called off tomorrow. Suposedly there was a horse lined up for one of the races there.

Powers that be decided to close the offices for today late last night. Then today at lunch time they closed the office until Monday, all staff to be paid as normal and told to work from home where possible but not to stress about being chained to a laptop, as people will have kids etc off school (ie answer a few emails from the offices in the US and US) - oh and any staff currently on annual leave will have the days credited.

Nice to work for people who treat staff well.

I guess we're lucky in the sense that our business / industry doesn't save lives and will be waiting for us on Monday.

We have a few retail outlets that can't close, and they're running with as little staff as possible and have only rostered people living near by. Anyone trapped due to transport etc will be put up in a hotel, and I believe they're getting paid an extra hourly rate.

Your spot on about that. Civil servant myself. Usually we are treated poorly enough but this time they have looked after us.

Sent home at 3....after driving a treacherous journey. Took my time made it in in one piece.

Some guys who lived close to work didn't show up because the footpaths were too slippy.

Did the full day, manager wasn't taking hints to let us out any earlier.
Working from home tomorrow and Friday, good luck getting any level of productivity out of me with a 12 month old to chase after that can't go to her grandparents.

Tried to get into work but roads were too bad. Office due to open at 8, communication sent at 7.30 to go home.

Another text a while ago to say we're closed tomorrow.

Fully paid, no questions asked. It's nice to be looked after. They done the same for Ophelia. I highly doubt we'll be open Friday either.
