    Hi folks,

I'm having issues with my magic eye / Sky Box setup. Not sure whats wrong, but it refuses to work. The magic eye isn't recognising any commands and won't change channels on the Sky box.

    Here is my current setup:

    1. Saorview aerial on roof.
    2. Sky box (modern, built in Wifi boxes with I/O connection) in attic, wired to Sky dish.
    3. Sky box > HDMI in TV in bedroom.
    4. Saorview aerial connected to the RF IN of the I/O link
    5. Coaxial cable from I/O link to the TV.
    6. Magic eye connected to Aerial-input of the TV.

    What's working:
    1. Saorview on the TV is working perfectly.
    2. Signal from Sky box shows on HDMI 1.
    3. Red light indicator is on on the magic eye

    Issue:
Sky won't change channels / recognise any commands via the magic eye! :(

I've also attached a diagram of my setup.

    Things I've tried:
    1. Turned the RF control off/on in the Sky engineer menu
    2. Tried a different Sky box
    3. Tried a different magic eye (also showed the red light)
    4. Updated software on Sky box
    5. Rebooted Skybox multiple times.
    6. Changed the RF channel from 69 to 65.
    7. Tried a different I/O link.

    Alas, no joy!

    Anyone have any other ideas?

I assume the remote itself is working ok?

Did it ever work on this set up?

Yep the remote is working fine and the Sky box works fine when I point the remote directly at it.

    First time setting this up!

Interference from the TV itself has been mentioned here before as a cause of problems.

Easy enough to check just by turning off the TV I suppose, & see if the commands then get through.

The fact that the red light is showing on the eye suggest the power is getting to the magic eye. Do you have any signal combiners on the set up? IE sat and rf running the same cable. is there a distribution box in the attic sending the signal to various rf outlets in the house. Never was a fan of the skybox in the attic to be honest. you will need to get into the attic, make up a short length of rf cable, connect it to the rf out 9v connect the eye on the other end get the eye working up there and take it from there. make sure you cover the skybox with something to block the signal from the remote. you want to get the eye operating it.

Thanks folks. Will give those a try tomorrow.

Will create a short coax cable to test as well just incase there's some issue with the cable going from the I/O to the Magic Eye. But the fact that the eye is lighting up red suggests the cable is ok.

    I will report back!

    Get it going?

    Yep!
I swapped out the magic eye again and basically unplugged everything and started from scratch and it magically (no pun intended) started to work again.
