Asking for a neighbour who has a cow with a hip out.
Vet has examined the cow and no breaks.

So anyone know a good bone setter?

I'm in Wexford but I'd say they'd nearly travel anywhere.
    Any recommendations welcome.

He's the first one I thought of too.
Is there a younger O'Neill at it now too?

There's a woman from tipp at it too but she's laid up with her own hip operations atm??

Just for anyone. Don't put up phone numbers I'll pm for numbers after.

I believe Billy Codd, the son of Sam Codd is continuing the family business. Located near Aughrim, Co. Wicklow.

I think someone else recommended him or them to them as well. I'd say they have a number for him. Thank you Greysides.

The names they had were Danny O'Neill, the Codds in Wicklow and then this woman in tipp (don't know her name but I believe she's unavailable).

How do you contact these people? I used to go to Mrs Kavanagh years ago but she's dead now. Can they do anything for injuries that are a couple of years old (damn ankle injury....)?

I don't think Sam is in good health these days but, no doubt, the Morris Minors are still there.

A 'hip out' needs to be acted on quick before swelling from the broken ligament between the two surfaces blocks the pieces settling back once replaced.

Is this the reason why vets don't attempt this procedure. It would surely be preferable to have a vet do this as soon as possible, using anesthetic, than to be waiting for someone else to arrive.

Some might but these lads seem to have a knack. It wasn't something that was covered when I was training. Any discussion of dislocations was very small animal orientated. Quite possibly there wasn't anyone with the knowledge to pass on.

Michael Woods around cloone in leitrim I used before Ann's would recommend him. I've pm'd you his number

Just make sure you have sufficient help for Woods, he's fantastic but cranky if you're skimpy on help. Also there's a fella in Cavan who's better on front legs, but mick is better on the back ones. :)

Its a front leg problem, had a lad from Belturbet here the other day, he reckons he put her shoulder back in, the cow is no better since.
Whatever she has done to herself she can hardly put any weight on the front foot. Got her feet pared and theyre fine.

Mick should be able to tell you what's up. He'd tell you straight out if he could sort it or not just by watching them for a while. Decent sort of man, my father knows him years and years. Wouldn't charge if he can't fix, that sort of thing whereas I know that cavan chap will charge regardless :pac:
