    Hello,

I know its really far fetched but does anyone know a personal trainer that knows about atrophic muscles and knows their way around that area. Basically i have cerebral palsy, and want to stay in shape but don't want to make it even worse since some muscles are tensed up as they are.

    (Dublin area)

    Thanks in advance

On the grounds that most PT education is done over the course of weeks and months rather than years it may be difficult to find a specialist unfortunately.

On the plus side I'd imagine any good PT might be willing to liaise with your Physical/Occupational therapist to help you too. If you let us know where you are based we can make some recommendations?

I live in south Dublin near DIT augnier street. Never ever had an occupational therapist, had a physical therapist for a year or so. The CP is not severe(Left arm is paralyzed and that's about it).

Well I only know of a few based in the city centre that I can recommend, but not sure exactly whether they take on one-to-one clients but perhaps you could touch base with each and explain what you're looking for.

    Dave Peelo - Metabolic Fitness
    Dave Hedges - Wild Geese
Dave McConkey - South Dublin Strength and Conditioning
and to buck the trend of 'Daves'...
Kieran Hegarty - Everstrength (based in Raw/Portobello I think)

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

I'm looking for a trainer on behalf of my wife. She has a herniated disc in her lower back. She has been to the physio and a number of other pain care people. She's looking to progress on from the remedial care but in a very careful way.

Are any of the above particularly specialised in dealing with injury? She's not familiar with a weights environment. She studied ballet in college and has spent the last decade doing yoga and pilates but they're not fixing the issues for her. I've had great success with a PT for my upper back but he's based near my work.

I'd be really reluctant to send her to a trainer who wasn't experienced or interested in injury rehab.

Where are you based? If Ranelagh suits, my OH has a PT type gym there and would be fairly experienced with injured clients. It's also a gym that's liked by people who don't like gyms lol.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah we're in Beggars Bush so Ranelagh would be ideal. Have you got a link you want to post here or you can send me a private message if you prefer.
