Trying to register with Gdax

    Hi

I've been trying for weeks to sign up to gdax, I've already got a coinbase account which I verified with my passport. I've tried my driver's licence which is the old paper type and my public services card but neither are accepted. I've tried a second verification with coin base but still no good. Don't have any other forms of identification to use.

Anyone got any ideas how to get around this or is there an alternative to coinbase that you use.

    Thanks

Perhaps it's time to update your driving licence to the card version?

You've got further than me. I tried to get my coinbase fully verified (with the intention of then getting gdax opened). Been going on for weeks now - had some assistance from support - but then they said they had to escalate it. Ever since, not a squeak - I've asked for an update numerous times - nothing.

At this stage, if I get one account fully verified that will allow me to trade in the way I need, then I'll be happy to make do with that. Have a few accounts opened - but either they're flaky and untrustworthy - or I can't add my bank account details to enable withdrawals or some other deficiency meaning I can't really get stuff done that I need to get done.

I have the same problem with Coinbase. Im waiting over a week to have my bank verified.
I have sent a Sepa transfer of €1 on two different occasions but they never reached my Coinbase account and weren't returned to my bank account.

Customer support keep telling me my case has been escalated to a specialist but the specialist hasnt contacted me.
I provided screenshots of the transactions and of the payee account details.
They dont give you any contact details for the specialist and then ignore any follow up emails.

Have a look at kraken.com as an alternative to Coinbase.

Kraken is the only account I've been able to get fully verified and largely functional. However, I need USD withdrawal and they don't offer that in my case.

Id prefer to have my Passport and bank details with as few of these exchanges as possible. I chose Coinbase initially as it seemed to be the safer of the exchanges to go with.

If you exchange Coins on Kraken for Euros does the money be sent straight to your bank account or does it be left on the exchange. How long do their Sepa transfers take?

Would be interested to here if any verfied accounts are having problems depositing to coinbase

What are they going to do with your details then?

It will take some time for the money to reach your account with SEPA. All you can do is minimise the time that funds/crypto are sitting in your exchange account - and otherwise, hope that you don't luck out.

I presume you run a risk of identity fraud by providing these details to an unregulated exchange..

Is it better to sign up to Kraken from a Desktop Browser or Phone App.

When you say you have a Coinbase account are you saying you are verified? It's a long while since I set up my account but I did have issues, however I 100% used the Irish paper DL and got verified.

If I recall I used GDAX for verification to both, I think GDAX worked better, make sure you actually take a picture of the DL and not a picture of a scanned copy, they seem to be really good at checking it.

I had the same problem, tried 16 times on the desktop, then I got a tip to go through gdax on my phone and sent second ID from there and I was verified with 24 hours.

I am fully verified on coinbase with my passport, my paper driver's license didn't work. Might try it again though

I've tried fruitlessly loads of times to get verified on Gdax (have everything done on Coinbase including Euro account).

Fails every time with drivers licence or social card. Even tried on mobile but the camera wouldn't work for some reason at the selfie point in the process (iPhone).

The trick that worked for me was to add additional verification documents to your Coinbase account which will then work on GDAX.

When you get the email saying that the documents have failed there is a button embedded within the email which brings you to your Coinbase profile where it allows you add a second document.

^^ Just tried that and it worked for me too, thanks. :)

Uploaded some ID to Coinbase via the link in my last "failed" email, and both got verified within a few minutes.

I got logged straight into GDax when I went to their site, and now have some deposits there to keep or play around with.

glad it worked and glad to have helped mate.

There is a way (within Coinbase) to add additional docs but for the life of me couldn't find it in any menu, but the rejection email link does the trick.

Now I just wish GDAX would add a 'max' button to their amount field, as I am no big trader and having to count digits a decimals for typing in the full amount grates me*

    * 1st world problem:rolleyes::D

I took your advice and signed up with Kraken. Got verified on Level 2 straight away and the Deposit from my bank was in my kraken account the next morning.

Im still waiting to hear from the Coinbase Specialist who is dealing with my account. Thank you

What eventually worked for me, even though it seemed like the issue was with the documents, was better lighting for the webcam photograph of myself.

    First thing I noticed too!

Transferred some BTC and some LTC and my Triple, Venti, Half Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchiato with Soy Milk was cold by the time I was done typing.
