Never been to a gym in my life. I work evenings so I can go anytime during the morning for a few hours. If I walked into a gym today I wouldn’t have a clue what to do. I’m 24 year old male with a thin body and I want to gain more muscle. Should I get a personal trainer as I think this would be the best option ?

Anyone know any good ones/gyms in santry, glasnevin, areas ???

Best thing to do is to have an introductory session with one of the gym trainers when you go. They can show you how to use the machinery and test which weights you should be using and all that. As you've never been before that means you won't have picked up bad habits so they can show you how to do everything properly first time.

If you want to use a personal trainer after that introductory session it's totally up to you, while it's more expensive it can be good motivation and they can make sure you're training correctly too.

Not sure of good gyms in the Santry/ Glasnevin areas, I know the new flyefit in Drumcondra is good and not expensive but there may be somewhere closer geographically for you to check out.

you'll be like loads of others - and a perfect candidate for one of the staff to work with.

Classes are an excellent introduction especially circuit training.

Gym's I'd recommend in your area would be Flyfit or Ben Dunnes in Northwood Santry (slightly more expensive but it has a pool, but sh*t opening hours at the weekends).

I haven't trained in Flyfit in Drumcondra but I used their short lived gym in Coolock, and their gym in Swords and found the staff far more helpful and friendly in FF, but the lockers and showers are the pits where the opposite is true of Northwood ~ ie the staff are unhelpful and don't even make an effort to be friendly but the showers and locker rooms are some of the cleanest I've seen anywhere.

I'm in flyefit Drumcondra and its a great gym. However I train anytime between 11-2 and its nice and quiet. Haven't seen it during rush hour.
Gym in the Regency as well. Missus is there and likes the classes.
There is a new gym opened in the Omni, haven't seen inside it. Fit4less I think its called.
DCU gym could be another option?
There is also a small gym in Whitehall Gaa which I believe is open to the public.
    Ben Dunne Northwood as mentioned.

...best gym is probably the one closest to you until it becomes a way of life
