what do you need for beauty courses

    advice needed for someone who is in 5th year and has no interest in school. Does she need to complete secondary school ie leaving cert.

    For a PLC in the Beauty area, she will usually need at a minimum LC standard. This means having finished 6th year, though some places make an exception.

    I'm presuming she is not doing LCA, which is a pity as she could have already been doing her Hair and Beauty specialism in that.

    Now, there are beauty courses and there are beauty courses. Some will take you straight off the street and some are quite specific as to what grades you need in certain subjects. Some are quite expensive, in private colleges and give internationally recognised awards. You can find a list of all courses on Qualifax.ie

    Perhaps she could call into local salons, spas etc., the sort of places she would like to work and ask them what qualifications/courses they would recommend. Talk to some of the staff and see what courses they did, if they liked them, if they would recommend them etc..
