Are these good quality dumbbells? €36 for two of them doesn't seem bad to me?

It's not amazing value but cast iron plates would always be the recommendation.

As an example, you could get these from Argos which is cheaper and has more weight (up to 15kg per DB) and these are €35 with up to 20kg per DB

I second getting cast iron. You'll outgrow these in no time and can fit away more cast iron plates onto a dumbbell bar. I bought these originally and ended up buying cast iron ones after 6 months .

Alf did you misread the prices, neither of the argos options are cheaper.

    Argos 15kg = €28.74 (1.92/kg)
    Argos 20kg = €34.99 (1.92/kg)
    Argos 10.5kg = €17.99 (1.71/kg)

All more or less the same. But strictly speaking the Lidl one are best value

Misread the details on the phone - it's not particularly clear. It's 4 x 0.5kg plates and not 4 x 5kg plates on the set of 15kg so with 8 x 1.25 plates it read as a total of 30kg, ie a set of 15kg DBs

These will drive you insane and to be honest they are dangerous. Dumbbells should be solids or spin lock only. The plates will constantly slip off these. Terrible idea and im really surprised to see them being sold

Gotta second the argos dbs, got a similar set years ago and am still using them, upping weight is no issue as extra plates are widely availale and fit fine, my 10kg dbs are now over 25kg lol.

Edit: second on the spin lock, very secure, hate the weights shifting about.

I got clattered under the eye years ago when a plate slipped off a bar using those clips. Never again but if your set work well then good stuff

The Argos set are spin lock with a rubber gromet to secure (least mine are).

I find the solid Hex DBs the best, I bought a few from here recently and I can recommend their quality so far.

They may be a little more expensive thou, so it depends on your budget.

I got the below for about €220, 106KG in total so about €2.07 per kg.

    3kg x 2
    5kg x 2
    10kg x 2
    15kg x 2
    20kg x 2
