Are these campaigns open to people without college degrees? Would a level 5 or 6 Fetac admin certificate suffice??

    Thanks

Just filled in the form, it doesn't seem to ask you ( initially ) where you want to work ( area / region ) I know it has asked previously, but can't remember at what stage, does anyone know ? From memory, you had to pick 2 areas, one from each group that was supplied in the application. Maybe it was further into the process ?

I was wondering about this as well. Almost full sure the last competition asked you to choose regions in the form but it seems to be missing this time around. The competition also opened a lot earlier this year in comparison to last year. Opened in March last year.

    Hi guys!

I've just applied online for the TCO position. One of the questions was have I ever been interviewed by PAS and worked on a TCO contract before. I answered yes because last year I worked on a TCO contract as part of my work placement for college. I'm just wondering if they hire people that have previously worked as a TCO?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, they will get a reference from the Manager of your section. I note on this years documentation that they say the applicant has to get it themselves. I know last year the Manager sent it directly to recruitment section. But wait to see. They are seem to be looking for a second reference.

If you have previous TCO experience do you have to do the aptitude test again?

It will ask you for your location choice at the next stage when you fill in the questionnaire. You can only pick one location this year, according to the booklet.

'3. LOCATION INFORMATION / GENERAL INFORMATION

Please note that you will be asked for your location choice when you are completing your online Assessment Questionnaire (not on your application form). See Paragraph 6.

It is proposed to establish panels for the locations set out in the table below from which vacancies will be filled, should they arise.

You can select ONLY ONE county from the list of location choices. Vacancies for which you may be considered will extend only to a city/town in your chosen county. Should you be offered a position from your location choice (whether you accept or not) you will,in the normal course, cease to be considered for any other position.'

Every applicant would have to go through all the stages regardless of previous experience.

What are the chances of being made permanent from these roles? Is there a permanent clerical officer campaign coming up this year?

You can't be made permanent from this comp. Permanent CO should be open in may of this year but maybe earlier

I see Crunchymomma and Davydoc on this thread as on the 2016 one does this mean that we can apply for this aswell without affecting the other competition?

You can apply for as many as you wish, they are all independent. I have not actually applied for this one though, only on it as my bro is and he doesn't use boards

Between 8 weeks and 12 months.

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you know if you can take any time off during the contract?

    Only holidays.

I'm not sure what you mean. Public holidays or can you book time off?

Hi, you would be entitled to a certain amount of holidays (annual leave) as standard. I think it's about a day and a half per month. You are of course entitled to public holidays too. If your section does flexi time then you may be able to work up some extra "flexi days" as well. :)

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you know if you can take any time off during the contract?

For what it's worth, this PDF link to the 2016 temporary clerical officer booklet contains the following text (I added the colour to highlight something relevant.):
Candidates who wish to be considered for positions which may arise (whether anytime over the period that this campaign is live, or if they indicate a preference to be considered only for positions over the summer period), must be available for the full duration of the contract offered.

Extended holiday plans during this period may affect your possible assignment.

If you are not available to take up a post you should not accept an invitation to attend for interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Starlady7

That refers to extended holiday leave. In other words if you are not available for a few weeks or more during a proposed contract period.
However something like a few days or a week's holiday should be fine. If you already have a short holiday booked that will occur during your new contract I would mention it at the interview and when you're offered the job and clear it with your supervisor when you start. That was my experience last year( 1 week holiday) and it wasn't a problem.

Practice aptitude tests in verbal, numerical - this website is what I used the last time. https://www.cebglobal.com/shldirect/en.

Don't think it's aptitude tests for the Temp CO Campaigns....usually they are a series of "scenario" type questions where you have to rate the different answers which are listed.

Yeah, scenario coupled with previous experience makes up your score, though the ratio is a mystery.

Will this competition follow the same stages as with the permanent co comp?

No....it's usually a placement result on a panel for your chosen area following this initial stage ....and then depending on your number achieved and the number of vacancies in the area, it's a call to interview.

Yeah....you can apply for all competitions, there are no limitations and if successful for a temp role, it would be considered useful experience to have anyway.

    Hi there folks

Don't think we will be getting another message.....there is a link in the original message which you can copy and paste to your browser and it should work....haven't tried it yet but it should according to the message.
Also remember it's not an aptitude test.....they are "scenario" type questions which you have to rate the answers given.....plus previous experience.

    Same here.
It said there would not be a confirmation email, so this is as expected.

    Hi,

I know that if we receive an offer, it's on a take-it-or-leave-it basis. But does anyone know whether you can ask for some time to decide (like one or two hours)?

I'm asking because I'm living abroad but I'll be returning home later in the year. If I get a call before I get back to Ireland, I'd consider it, if it was 5/6 months+, but I couldn't say yes on the spot.

Does anyone have any experience of this? When I got the call to work in PeoplePoint a few years ago, I just accepted so it wasn't an issue.

By the way, best of luck to everyone!

Don't think they give you any time to consider so your only 2 options are, say no and that's your opportunity gone or.......say yes, give it consideration.....and if it doesn't suit call them up, apologize and cancel it.
    That's just my opinion!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 eoghanghanlon

Thanks! That's probably the best way to do it. I'd say if I was to ask for time, they'd say no and move on to the next person.
    Let's see what happens.

Yes of course they can give you some time to decide. From my past experience this was the case anyway.

Theyre fairly understanding and if you need a day or two to weigh up options im sure theyd accommodate you

    Hi DoreenB

I think we get the results then, letting us know how we did and our oom if you get a high score then you get through to the 2 nd part.
At least I think thats how it goes,

    Good luck

Well get our results and order of merit OOM in the next few weeks and then invited to interview in dublin which is very informalish

They let us know our score in the online test and then invite to interview sometime afterwards.

Dublin for a TCO interview? Sounds a bit mad doesn't it.
Thought there might me an aptitude test or something next.

No...no aptitude tests for temp CO.....just straight to interview depending on how high you are on panel and how many vacancies in your region of choice.....also it's not always Dublin for interviews ......they have been doing regional interviews too.
