Two good teams on both sides of the ball - Tho you'd give the Eagles D the nod - Obviously, Brady gets the nod over Foles.. But the Eagles are capable of making plays from every position.

Brady will need Gronk here and anyone else he can get but it looks like he will get his 6th ring!! Will we ever see the likes again!?

Interesting little nugget is Matt Patricia versus Jim Schwartz.
Battle of the Lion’s future against the Lion’s past on defence;)

    Philadelphia Eagles
I give it to the Pats in a shootout.
I can't see the Eagles D causing the type of problems the Jags did, but at the same time Foles>Bortles and will have a lot more success against our secondary.
I'm going to go with a 33-28 scoreline in favour of the Pats

I just feel so much for Wentz. His play throughout the year is a big part of how the Eagles are in the SB and he won't get to play.

I will be rooting for the Eagles, if only to see what a mess the fans make of the Vikings stadium and Minneapolis if they win!!! :pac::pac::pac:

Had more confidence before the Jags game, but the Pats were poor on both sides of the ball until they had to mix in a number of blitz’s and trick plays.
It’s the SB with the Pats, so it’s gonna be close at the end. Going with Pats due to Brady, but worried about the lack of quality in the D.

I would love to see the Eagles win their first Superbowl but its very hard to see them upsetting the Patriots too much, the Jaguars had a great Defense but Brady still found a way to put points on the board and then Bellichick dared their offense to emulate his own. It will be the same in the SB. The Eagles Defense will eventually tire out and their offense will be found wanting. But I hope I'm wrong.... :)

Can't wait for this. Huge underdogs again, just the way we want to be. I think that people are looking at the Jags game and going "Well, the Jags had a better D so therefore Brady will win, no doubt." Nope, Eagles O is vastly better than the Jags O. Eagles have a more diverse Running Back unit too. Against the Vikings, the 2nd best rush defense in the league, we still ran for 110 yards. Pats aren't as good as either the Eagles or Vikings at that. I think the Eagles have a great chance and I'm picking them over the Patriots.

I am the opposite, I was more worried about the Jags D posing problems with the match ups. Once we got past them I didn't care who came out of the NFC really. Tough game either way but confident.

The adjustments are where games are won and lost, changing it up is part of it not something you do out of desperation or something.

Eagles secondary is weaker than the Jags, they have a better QB which should help them get in a position to put more points on the board.

As its the Pats it will probably be a very tight game coming to the end whatever team is in the lead and I have full faith in team stepping up and getting it done.

Hey ladies and gents, new to NFL this year and I’m almost hooked :) ..

Was really hoping the Vikings would make it thru last night as I’ve developed a soft spot over the last few months for them but here’s hoping the Eagles can do it now.

Anyone know if RTÉ or TV3 will broadcast the superbowl? I find it strange that it’s FTA in the UK, Germany etc and it doesn’t seem to be here :(

It will be on BBC. So still FTA technically!

BBC coverage is normally grand, no ads being a bonus. More waffle being a negative.

Oh sorry I knew it was on the BBC but I was thinking in terms of exposure in Ireland - seems like it’s a missed opportunity and will draw viewers as it gets so much exposure.

Wentz is clearly a systems QB. The system still got them to the Superbowl

Ah yes, the days of Myles Dungan here's a nice outro with a recap of 1988 with Myles and a pretty snazzy eighties jumper.

That Jerry Rice Super Bowl catch would definitely have been overturned today...Bengals ball on the 25!

Few random stats/facts taken from reddit and elsewhere:

At the end of regulation, no Tom Brady Superbowl has ever ended with the points difference greater than 4 (0 vs Falcons; +/-3 vs Giants, Eagles, Panthers, Rams; +/-4 vs Seahawks, Giants).

Nick Foles was on the verge of retirement. If not for Andy Reid wanting him in KC, he might’ve hung ‘em up. In two weeks, he will start the Super Bowl.

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will be appearing in their 8th Super Bowl together, which is twice as many as any head coach-QB combo. Brady will also be the first 40-year-old QB to start a Super Bowl.

The Patriots are the first team ever to appear In TEN SuperBowls.

Asteroid expected to buzz past earth on Super Bowl Sunday - not expected to collide with the planet.

Blount and Long will have gone to the SB as teammates on both the Patriots and the Eagles in back-to-back years.

For the 14th time in the last 15 years, the AFC will be represented in the Super Bowl by Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Ben Roethlisberger.

The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2017 regular season atop their respective conferences with identical 13-3 records and +162 point differential. The Patriots both scored and allowed exactly one more point than the Eagles.

Philadelphia is a 5.5-point underdog vs the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, according to the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas. Philadelphia is the largest SB underdog since the Cardinals were 7-point underdogs to the Steelers.

Tom Brady has made the Super Bowl in 50% of his healthy starting seasons. Bill Belichick has made over 20% of all Super Bowls and over 33% since the 1986 season.

Since 2013, nine out of ten top seeds have advanced to the Super Bowl. Only the 2016-17 Cowboys failed to make it.

Only 2 players have completed 75% of their passes in back-to-back playoff games. Joe Montana & Nick Foles.

The Eagles are the first team to win the NFC without a 1,000-yard rusher or receiver since the 1996 Packers. Who was on that team? Doug Pederson.

If the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl, the NFC East will be the first Division where every team has won a Super Bowl.

Tom Brady now has 9,721 career postseason passing yards. Needs 279 in the Super Bowl to hit 10,000. Peyton Manning is second with 7,339.

After throwing for 290 yards in the AFCCG, Tom Brady's career postseason passing yards now exceed the height of Mount Everest

The losers of this year's Championship games will have both hosted an Eagles vs Patriots Super Bowl (SB39 in Jax; SB52 in Min).

In the last 3 playoff games where New England has been down by 10 points or more (Seattle, Atlanta, Jacksonville) they outscored their opponents in the 4th quarter 47-3.

The last 15 AFC Championships have been won by 4 different QBs. The last 15 NFC Championships have been won by 13 QBs.

In NFL playoff history, the record for most 4th quarter double-digit comebacks was the Cowboys with 2. The Patriots have 3 in the last 4 seasons.

    Eh??

  • I'm going for the eagles

I think the offence is far better than the jags and I think late in the game the depth in the eagles d-line will make it very very tough on the pats offence

Brady-belichek terrifys me it's the only advantage the pats have and it's probably all they need

How is the home team decided, is it a coin toss or what?

Would have been interesting had the Vikings won and been the away team in their own stadium.

Rotated between NFC and AFC. Falcons were home team last year, Broncos year before and so on

NFL said that if they made it to the SB they would have kept their own facilities for the week. Training/changing rooms/sideline etc...

Good decision, the team wearing white has won 12 of the lat 13 Superbowls. The Packers being the only team not wearing white to have won a superbowl in that time.

Opened the link to see the Giants at #51, thought to myself "No way they should be ranked that high!"
Took a minute for the lightbulb to go off, that's dead last amongst SB winning teams....

yeah I just meant the home dressing room. The jersey choice was always going to be the AFC winner and as the Vikings are not there now the AFC get the home dressing room and facilities which I am sure are a little nicer.

    Patriots 27-24.

We don't have the offense or defense really but with BB and TB12 it's hard to expect that anything will happen in the last 2mins/OT other than a game winning drive for NE.

To be fair, if Eagles put up 24 points and still lose, I'd be disappointed.

But I think your the first one here to say that NE aren't as good with their O-line or D. Brady is gonna be Brady, that's just a fact. Pressure and sacks are all well and good, but Brady is just so good. But the Eagles D is better than the NE O-line, so I expect a lot of pressure. And the NE D is going to have a very hard time against the Eagles O-line. I think that's what gives Eagles a real shot.
