    Ok, I Didn't read every post.

    But I used to work in the footwear retail market in the UK and you'd be amazed at what some people claim as faulty and looking for refunds.

    There was even one case of a broken lace and he was saying he was entitled to a refund - and that was not the craziest one.

    Work in retail and see how some people try anything.

    Obviously in op's case it was a genuine fault.
