Apparently, he has already earned £170,000 this year from radio airplay alone!!

Roy Wood: The December Nile Rogers.

    Boo-urns!

And the Housemartins got the idea from Tony Hart's Morph character.

Europe did well out of being the theme music to Sports Stadium on RTE for years

  • Registered Users Posts: 72,286 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Seriously, how could ‘The Final Countdown’ NOT be a hit?!

Would have been great if it stayed at the top for Christmas ‘86.

I saw that the Europe drummer played TAMA drums.

Neil Peart of RUSH had beautiful ones:

    f4d947dc75e4757c913b4a03ad8b46d5.jpg

His main snare was a Slingerland which he used up to 1995/1996 when he started to use DW drums.

Nice bit of "The Sun Always Shines On TV" there too.

Close to unthinkable these days that an Ireland rugby match's only coverage would be 40 minutes of very delayed highlights!

I thought only jazzers used Sllngerlands.

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

Would it surprise boardsies to learn that Nile Rodgers will be appearing on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny?

    Nope, me neither.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,385 ✭✭✭✭Sardonicat

I can think of worse ways of seeing in 2019 than boogying on down to "Le Freak".

Still an all, the only thing the bauld Nile won't be appearing on any time soon is an endangered species list.

Miriam O'Callaghan interviews Van Morrison on RTE Radio 1 at 10am today on Miriam's Desert Island Discs with a different name show

Unusual to hear Van doing an extended interview

The Van Morrison interview is actually quite good. Nothing amazingly revealing in it but just to hear the great man being so unusually obliging and loquacious is an event in itself.

    Who's Miriam?

    Edit : D'oh!

My ears and eyes usually glaze over when any RTE person* conducts an interview but she seemed genuinely interested...and nervous at the start. Saw Van at the Bluesfest with Robert Plant a few months ago. He's a professionals professional.

*Except Marty Whelan who is a legend

Expectations were low so I thought the interview was fine even if I thought she could have pushed the boat out a bit more given how cooperative Van was being. Obviously certain topics were agreed out of bounds I imagine. Only thing I couldn’t forgive was calling herself a lifelong fan and then declaring her favorite song to be....Have I told you lately? Ah jaysus...
