Spring / summer gear questions

I'm planning on buying some of my gear for the upcoming season in the sales at the moment - I do a lot of riding abroad in northern France (generally just a bit warmer than Ireland but similar overall climate) and Cyprus (40 degrees plus in summer)

Mainly asking about base layers - I see a lot of warm weather base layers such as Castelli mesh ones - are these any good for warm weather (20-25 degrees+) or am I better off just going with a jersey and nothing underneath? For sunburn reasons I try to avoid the thinnest see through jerseys.

Also wondering what people recommend for a spring / Irish summer base layer?

Any more general recommendations on favoured bib shorts and jerseys also most welcome. Have winter gear, Castelli Gabba and a few B'Twin jerseys but would like to add a few more short sleeved

Don't know about base layers, but I used these in Italy 2 years ago as arm protection vs sunburn. Felt they were worth the tenner. (Clearance then and now. They must have a shed load of them).
