Twice and its amazing that his mystery "illness " didn't suddenly flare up

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,377 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

All ye holier than thou heroes would have no problem with your goalkeeper killing the ball if it meant your goalkeeper had 5 All Irelands in his back pocket.

It's getting worse than the soccer thread in here with the pathetic "my team/your team" shte. People talking pure crap because they don't know enough about the game to actually have a conversation about a match.

Most of these apes get ignored on their own threads which is what should be done here, they'll get bored and fcuk off eventually

Just watching the Sunday Game there now and it's made how loose and standoffish we were in the backs.

I don't think either player should get sent off.

james owens is a disaster , but he is only doing what the assisors tells him , no one wants to be a john keenan and reff the game as they see it as they could get crucified

i remember rte brining on barry kelly to discuss this to the panel pre covid , and he basically said the same thing , today the same in the clare v tipp game some very soft calls and cards on both teams because a team of people in croke park decided to clamp down on basically anything

Almost every aspect of Limerick's performance was well below the usual standard. The full back line were left exposed in one on one scenarios. Finn was understandably well off the pace on his return and will need to come on significantly for the run if he is to start v Clare. Costello's defending for Reids goal was very poor, attempting to get out in front and wafting a hurley at the ball rather than pinning down his man as Mike Casey specialises in.

Quaid hit three puckouts straight to Kilkenny players, Gillane missed frees that should have been certainties and a lot of the general play and skill execution was miles off.

Cathal O'Neill has been excellent and has to start come championship. In Casey's absence I'd also start Adam English as he is more suited to that drifting role than O Dalaigh.

The second half substitutions were an obvious signal that management didn't consider retrieving the situation to be of great importance.

There are parallels with 2022, when there were some woeful performances in the league and then they came out and blew Cork away in the first round of Championship. This game will not matter one iota if they put up a big performance on 21st April.

At some point the well will run dry, given the number of battles and incredible performances that this team has produced, but hopefully not yet.

I cant see Lohan going fully loaded for this despite the previous record with Kilkenny.

Kilkenny have the luxury of not having to worry about playing their nearest rivals and current All Ireland and Munster champions the following fortnight!!

We will surely be playing a behind closed doors challenge match Friday/Saturday, probably Wexford or Dublin

I believe Clare at this stage are very keen to win any cup so I expect they will be going all out against Kilkenny and rightly so too . Hasn’t stopped Limerick or Kilkenny winning all Ireland’s winning the league on route

Should be an interesting team selection alright, TK and SOD need game time as well.
Clare/Lohan as you rightly point out have f all to show for his tenure in management and KK look to be further ahead this year, they were very flat against us in last years League final

Both teams have missed a a nice few trophies because of Limerick so I would say both will try grab the opportunity. Clare can't afford to lose another big game to Kilkenny too.

Any chance clare v limk tickets going up online? I see they've added the page on ticketmaster so hoping a few might go up 🤞

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,377 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Page has been there from the start. Not a hope they will go up I'de say and the only chance is if you have club contacts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 662 ✭✭✭LeoD

Are all the Cork and Tipp stand tickets sold already (none available on Ticketmaster)? Are championship tickets distributed through clubs also?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,377 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Cork was terrace only from the start. It's because so many clubs and season ticket holders. Cork Vs Limerick is always a huge crowd.

We're without O Donovan for the first two games. Reidy will go in there I guess. Lynch struggled in midfield against KK. Needs to be more forward I think. Unless Cathal O Neill comes in somewhere but I think Reidy will slot in.

Our link up has been poor without him. Maybe we pull a fast one during the break and go long instead of through the lines.

Would really upset the anti hand pass cry babies if we won it "old school" 😝

DOd is a key component of the team.
CON could slot in at 7 and free up Hayes but I would love to see CON back at 12 with Cian further up the field.
Great to see O Neill get some serious game time but I feel his scoring abilities outweigh his defensive nous( as of now, hes a gifted player, that element of play will come)

Hes a magnificent fielder of the high ball , when Quaid went long to him last year and 2022 he had the highest number of passes completed in the Championship.
Playing him in the half backs has done him the world of good tho , hes a big strong lad who can break a tackle with ease.
Hope KK tear into the Clare side tomorrow night, KK look much further down the lime than last year when we beat them in the League Final in 3rd gear!

  • Registered Users Posts: 461 ✭✭C4000

Good points. Id marginally favour O Neill at 7 with Hayes further forward but he has to start somewhere.

You'd think we'd be happy with everything we've won over the last few years but I'm getting more wound up by the day ahead of the Clare game. I'd give anything for a win 😄

U20s just beaten there....Shane O Brien subbed off after 40 mins....couldnt tell from the zoomed out stream with irish commentary on my phone if it was an injury or not.

a win in Ennis would be MAGICAL 😂😂😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,005 ✭✭✭slegs

A necessity in my view. Tipp the following week (their first game). Not easy even if in Limerick.

Then Cork who will be chomping at the bit to get us down in the Pairc.

Lose in Ennis and we are very much on the back foot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,377 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I don't really believe in "back foot". We have 4 games to get about 5 points minimum and of those 4 Ennis is definitely the hardest. We can afford to lose 1 game and I don't think it matters that it might be the first 1.
