Wear a mask when using perlite and vermiculite?

    Hi.

If you use perlite and/or vermiculite - do you wear a mask? Is it necessary? Or do you use other precautions like no mask but damp down the perlite or vermiculite?

    Thanks.

For gardening? How much do you use? I only have a handful here and there....

You could use a dust mask I guess, if there was loads and you were indoors

    Hi pwurple.

On my course we use big bags of both and mix with compost/peat. We do this outside.

If you are worried just dampen the vermiculite/perlite in the bags so there is no dust. Thats dampen not soak.
