Formuler F1 - os image or skin for older user?

My mother (who is a pensionar) recently got her Sky box replaced with a Formuler F1 box (with two DVBS and one DVBT installed) and an external hard drive.
It works fine however she finds the OpenATV interface too complicated, for example the epg does not list the freeview and terrestrial Irish channels together (you need to enter a channel number for one or the other to bring up the appropriate guide). She also finds recording confusing.

I've read that OpenVix can be more "Sky" like which would be better for her but looking at the website I'm unclear if it supports DVB-T tuners in addition to the Satellite ones as well?

Functionally the box seems to be fine, just the interface is not really suitable.

Is there a recommended skin I can install on it for her - in particular one that has both terrestrial and satellite channels together as can be done on the Ferguson boxes or is there another image that might better suit a less technical user that you could recommend?

    Thanks for any advice.

you have posted in wrong section, its a satellite box and openatv is a better image than openvix. you need to tweak the settings to get it working. go to this thread and have a good read. the secret to these boxes is use of the colour buttons. your best bet is to get a reply from one who has the exact same setup.

Thanks but my one of my questions is specific to the dvbt tuner in it - is it supported by OpenVix (if recommended as an alternative to OpenATV), which is why I posted here as I hoped someone here might have experience or knowledge of the dvbt aspect.

What you need is a list of favourites which combines the satellite and Saorview channels in any order you wish. This is all covered in the thread Swoofer linked to above. Changing the skin or the image type will not alter the lists of channels

    .As Gerry says

Create a favourite list. You can mix both saorview and satellite.

Ass the channels in what order you want.

    Openvix is the simplest OS.

    Yep, create a "Favourites" list.
I'd also recommend SkyNew skin by Chabs. Screen shots attached.
No more "Add Timer" and "Add Auto Timer" ... just "Record" and "Record Series" as expected.

My parents use it and they prefer it to Sky - simpler to use. The "Favourites" bouquet has the list of channels the frequently use in the order they want them.

Wont make any odds if you choose either.

Its a third party skin for e2 boxes written by a guy over on Techkings. You'll have to install it at local extensions as its not in th feeds for obvious reasons.

Kiddac also does one except his is called SlyK. He hangs out at linuxsat.

I've installed OpenVix and used the bouqet maker and it was all pretty painless , its almost there but am stuck on a couple of things.

    437858.jpg

I do like the tabs on the top that seperate the channels into favorites, and separate areas such as movies entertainment, HD Channels etc, however I want to remove some of them, there are just too many there. I did get into the screen to choose these once but for the life of me cannot find it again - anyone know where?

Secondly, I want to be able to launch the Favourites(TV) option by one of the colour buttons but am unable so far to do his (when I assign favorites to the blue buttons it just shows the bouquet choices).
If I choose hide bouqets it just shows the favorites menu but the sub areas such as entertainment, news, children are quite useful so prefer to keep them.
Thanks for advice so far, am really loving the change in the box so much I'm considering getting something like it to replace my aging Foxsat :)
