    great result for them

    was last year's disaster management's fault ???

not a great start for Gilroys Dublin

Great to see Offaly rolling back the years. Some delightful hurling for this time if year. Dublin should take a look at their approach to the game. No substitute for the skills of the game. Dublin were very naive.

Dessie Farrell, Ronnie Drew, Mrs Brown, Sir Bib Gelding, Bono, James Joyce, Brendan Gleeson, Ryan Tubridy, we have beaten them all, we have beaten them all!. Bertie Ahern, can you hear me? Bertie Ahern... your boys took a hell of a beating! Your boys took a hell of a beating!

Doubt Gilroy will be too upset. No expectations. Starting at rock bottom. Will be a different team when it matters.

The Cuala lads will be back for starters.

Offaly looked a lot better than they have done in a long time. Fitter, sharper and more intense.

Enjoyable first half in cork. Eoin Murphy with two great saves for KK and two lovely frees as well

Cork player lucky not to get red there..
A dangerous shoulder to the head.

Early dAys but Kilkenny look to have altered their game plan from the win your own ball mentality. Getting with the times is Cody

Tommy is a bit hard to listen to with his hyperbolas.

Cork win by a goal. 1-24 to 0-24. Bad looking injury for cillian buckley near the enf

Many of those Dublin lads won't get near inter county when Cuala and some of the injured are available. Full back line was an embarrassment. Lads who've played three college games this week starting in the forwards too. Madness.
Still very worrying to see the dearth of basic skills.

Offaly look like they're going all out for the league. Good to see them back in the saddle.

Watching the Clare v Tipp gane and there was just a succession of bad wides from both teams.Unusual but it is the first game for them

Wayward shooting in the first half and its now Clare 0-13 Tipp 0-10 at half time

Sounded like a good win earlier on, though Armagh missed two penalties. Wanted to head down to Bray for a look but there were absolutely no details given about venue, it's like they don't want anyone to show up.

Good win for Wicklow, what's going on down there?

Good game in wexford 1-9 to 10 points, Cork winning. LEe Chin giving a masterclass from open play, misses too much from placed balls for my liking.

Very good win for Wexford. Crucial scores in the final minutes to close out the game.

There was times in the second half when Cork looked like they wanted to loose. Some crazy score taking decisions made.

looking like the 1A promotion spot for 2019 will go to the winners of the Limerick vs Galway game (of draw the team with the highest SD)

Dublin have been very disappointing this campaign

Christ thats awful goalkeeping from Wexford. Ball rolled into the goal there.

Dubs getting hammered down in Limerick, early days but Gilroy will be under huge pressure.

They are chronic. Wrong option when going through on goal and poor last pass. Sweeper is dreadful too.

What experience does the man have as a hurling manager?

Chin has missed a few frees and they were unlucky there not to get a goal but for a great save. It's not all doom and gloom. They are still fighting and only 5 points down

They need to get a free taker sorted. Any idea why guiney is not in match day squad?

He was injured against Cork and was meant to be back training so I presume they just held him off for another while,

Wexford could have got a few goals there and if you are from Tipp you would be concerned with the goal chances they gave up but they got the win.

Serious goalkeeping from Mooney to be fair but mcdonald nedds to be doing better.

Doesn't Gilroy have Anthony Cunningham involved? not a total novice coaching team. Hard to read whats going on, they have gained the few who opted out under Ger Cunningham but are still without the Cuala lads

Was at the Wexford game this evening. Tipp had the edge all through the game, and were sharper in taking their scores. Still, our lads put up a decent showing. Wasteful with the frees, which you can't be missing in modern hurling. Look at Galway's free stats last year. Survival in division 1 is our goal, and I'd say we can do it. There isn't any Wexford team going out these days expecting a whipping. Looking forward to the Leinster championship.

Wexford will be fine in D1 this year. They seemed to be going whole hog though, which may work against them come summer. But as you say, they won't be expecting a whipping, and it's good to see them competitive!

I think Fitzy doesn't know any different. He has a fairly decent young crop of players, and he'll push them hard. The right man in the right place at the right time. There isn't a whole pile of depth to the squad, and we aren't in danger of lifting Liam this year. Don't see anyone beating Galway to be honest, unless they've been drinking and riding all round them since they won. It's good to see Wexford competitive again though. Get young lads playing, and put more bite into the club game

I would echo the previous comments about being delighted with the heart and just pure work ethic instilled in Wexford now.

But there is no hiding from the fact that we seem to make more mistakes in the most basic of situations than any of our contemporaries. And worse we let said mistakes define how the game subsequently goes. Its amazing how often we are punished with a goal directly from a boo-boo. Happened three times I think in the league semi last year iirc for instance.

Our free-taking has been a long-term issue too but for me the biggest concern is always the odd mental lapse at the back. We haven't the cuteness to basically rugby tackle a fella to the ground in the immediate aftermath of ceding possession in a dangerous position.

But I am confident that Davy learned more from tonight than from the previous two wins.

Astonished to see this type of tactic mentioned in a hurling discussion, I thought that was only for those cynical footballers. Never thought I'd see the salt o' the earth people talking about this.

Jesus you've a short memory. Colin Fennelly was practically wrestled to the ground every time he got the ball in wexford park last year. Don't worry ye're well able to do it.
Any inter county player worth his salt shouldn't have to 'rugby' tackle any player to the ground ever. There are plenty of of ways to stop a lad/dispossess him in any area of the pitch. They should have more than enough skill/ability to properly tackle a lad without resorting to rugby tactics.

Sure kilkenny are purists. They'd never target players or employ cynical styles. Tommy Walsh cough cough.

Wexford more than competitive last night, had a few goal chances and missed alot from frees, if they had taken them they could have easily won, great improvement since davey Fitz took over.
