Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What logic is that from durrant staying in BDO for life if he wins this comp or makes the final, Martin Adams II , I hope Williams beats him for his own good

he has a serious job on big bucks
if he joins pdc then he has to go full time at the darts
    so more to it

Fair enough Jim went off the boil a bit, but Glen didn't exactly give him many chances....

Those last 4 sets were some of the finest darts you'll see.

Aye he seems to have the potential, if he went at it full time, to make some very decent wedge in the PDC, defo top 10 material potentially, not sure why he doesn't make the jump, its clearly which side the bread is buttered.

For sure.. just go back and look at how competitive he was at the Grand Slam.. He can throw 104/105 avg no bother to him.. Its a massive waste of his talent but let him on.. If he wants to be the big fish in the little pond then leave him to it

as said hes on big money with job he has so no real need for him money wise

I could be wrong but was Durrant in the PDC a few years ago?

How much is big money with the job? MvG made 1.4m from the PDC last year. with plenty of others earning very decent wedge, another 2 over 500k, and a further 8 over 200k?

    think its 6 figure

thats the 2 year order of merit id say your looking at ?

he would make good money no doubt

Let Durrant keep being the big fish in the small pond, when he could easily double his annual earnings with a year in the PDC

That's one year 1/1/17 to 31/1/17 for PDC only from here .

Durrant is a post man isn't he? Hardly huge money. Theres an awful amount of traveling if you want to make money in the PDC too, maybe he doesn't want it.

Civil Servant, his pension from that job is probably worth a fortune when he actually gets round to retiring, might well make financial sense for him to stick to the BDO even if he could make a short term killing in the PDC for few years!

And should he win this year in year out, it's a handy 100k for a weeks work. How much has he earned in 2017?

He'd probably need to crack top 10 in PDC to make it worthwhile

jesus the bitterness dripping from those "big fish small pond" comments. There's more to life than making coin ffs.

Durrant made a nice bit on the exhibition circuit last year also. I imagine the BDO champ can command a decent fee. Plus his new sponsorship deals.

Makes perfect financial sense for him to stay put. Has a good day job and is earning considerable side income through darts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭ThebitterLemon

Fair play to GD, seems like a level headed fella.

Why would he go onto the PDC circus when he's making a few quid playing darts and had has a pensionable job.

Might be different if the BDO isn't televised next year and the prize money drops off

Not at all.. I just wanna see him take on the better players in the PDC.. He's got the talent, his averages are way ahead of anything else and he's capable of doing it on the bigger stage like he did at the Grand Slam. From a fans perspective I always thought he'd have the bottle to make top 16 easily in the PDC

I actually quite like Nicholson's commentary.

"More angles than a trigonometry convention" is my personal favourite from this week.

That kind of statement is exactly why he isn't liked. Don't know how anyone liked Sid's commentary either tbh

Lisa Ashton played very well. 90 average very good for a women's match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Her scoring is the best I've ever seen by a female.

She really would beat over half the men.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Choochtown

Just shows how psychological darts is. Anastasia was unstoppable first set and Lisa Ashton's Darts were all over the shop.

Gulliver's 10 world titles probably won't be matched, but Ashton is without doubt the best ever.
How much money did she win? Just heard runner up got 5 grand

    Winner £4,000
    Final £2,000
    Semi Final £1,500
    Quarter Final £1,250
    Last 16 £1,000

Probably the worst semi final I've ever seen here. How the hell is mcgeany world number 1. I've literally never seen him play well.

Kinda strange too to have the ladies final in the early afternoon and only 1 match this evening ðŸ˜

I know why he's number one, im saying how the hell can he possibly be the best player in the bdo this year. He is muck

(I know currant is better than him)

I can't see McGeeney troubling Durrant tomorrow

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,160 ✭✭✭Huntergonzo

Pity Unterbuchner is gone, would have loved to see him make the final, McGeeney hasn't been great and just looks like your garden variety english BDO player, a lad from Munich in the final would have been a lot more exotic.

Still though, gotta love the BDO, the PDC is far better but the Lakeside is one of the best venues in world darts and there's a certain charm to the BDO world championship.
