Both my neighbour and mine are terrance house, there is very tiny wall between his bedroom and my bedroom, they got a new Bichon Frise puppy in April, they also have a cat, Both of them are working from 8am to 5pm form Monday to Friday, so they left the dog and cat on their own in the house, The dog start barking non stop since they left the house, it was so loud, i can hear that in my house,i am doing late shift till 12pm, so i normally go to sleep around 2am in the morning, the dog start barking and wake me up by 8am in the morning, i have been talked to them via what's app, and also face to face talk a few times, they just gave me lots of excuses, i do not mind dog barking in general, but i can not stand for the dog barking non stop for a few house, this time they left dog in the house again in the house, i texted them, here what i got from them,

What should i do? i can not stay at home during the day, as the non stop dog barking is too loud and cause nuisance to me and my tenant, my tenant is threatening to move out, i try to contact <snip>, Nobody answer my calls, and i kept leaving voice mail to them; and i did fill the online Animal Cruelty form vis <snip>, they have not come back to me at all. is there anything else i can do to resolve this issues?

Section 25 of the Control of Dogs Act 1986 deals with nuisance by barking dogs. If you don’t get a satisfactory response from the dog owner, you may complain to the District Court, using the form prescribed under the Control of Dogs Act. These forms are available from local authorities.

The court may make an order requiring the occupier of the premises in which the dog is kept to abate the nuisance by exercising due control over a dog. The court may limit the number of dogs that can be kept on a premises or may direct that a dog be delivered to a dog warden to be dealt with as unwanted.

Complain to the courts. Or at least fill in the attached and hand it to your neighbour. It won't go anywhere but it might prompt your neighbours to take some responsibility.

"We went shopping at 5, and came back at half 8. We're not getting the dog minded for 2 and a half hours."

You're clearly dealing with a moron. Tread carefully.

Also, you need to blur your pictures better. Tell <snip> to cop the fúck on.

OP I've removed one of your screenshots as you hadn't disguised names, potentially making your thread even more recognisable to your neighbours or others who might recognise them.
Please be careful not to identify people, and in particular be careful not to prejudice a legal case you may end up taking.
    Thanks,

Don’t be ridiculous now, of course there is. OP see other posts regarding the courts. It should be your last resort but it does work. A barking collar would be a much easier solution. I hate people who think it’s ok to leave a dog all day without human company. My estate is full of them

Edit: I’ve fallen out with neighbors over the same issue but if they have no respect for my peace and quiet then I couldn’t give a sh1t what they think of me any more. I’ve threatened one guy with court and it has improved but it will never be great because they just don’t give a sh1t.

It’s sounds as if the dog is suffering from Separation Anxiety, & probably lack of socialisation al be it not that it’s much help to you, but the owner has a responsibility to address this for the dogs sake, but afaik not a legal responsibility.

    Have a look at http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/environment/animal_welfare_and_control/control_of_dogs.html#l1f4da

It details what to do if you decide the dogs barking is causing a nuisance, but beware it can be difficult & you’ll need a lot of verifiable evidence. Also the end result will be the removal of said dog to the pound and may result in retaliation in some form or another from your neighbour.

If all else fails, get some atteniuated ear plugs and lots of wine or whatever your fav tipple be....

    Good luck.

    .

Or the neighbour might cop on and do something about their barking dog?

OP we had a similar situation - we're mid terrace and barking dog is at the end.. I was actually banned from approaching them :o.. at 1:30 am lol.. but 3 people from surrounding roads approached them and they finally let the dog back into the house again - they'd gotten work done and decided he was too messy in the house. I had been approached asking was it one of mine too at one stage when they went on holidays for a month and left him out!!!!

Would the neighbours on the other side complain to them too? If not give them a copy of the control of dogs act highlighting the lines about nuisance barking. Are they renting by any chance as you could complain to the landlord?

I firmly believe in a passive aggressive approach....

Personalised copy of The Control of Dogs Act along with vouchers for owner/puppy obedience classes...

Record the dog barking. Play it back louder. When neighbours from further afield near the noise, the dog will get the blame.

Obedience class isn't going to stop the dog barking. Trust me - i have a dog who I think I can say is pretty well trained and is known to some posters here who'd agree (i hope lol) and it makes no difference to his anxiety levels. Nor will long walks or frozen kongs which is usually suggested too..

I agree but they could help the overall situation, the dog is young enough to benefit from them and possibly so can the owners.

I have the impression that their new bundle of fur is what I call an #Instadog; i.e. 'got it cause it would look great on my Instagram feed'.

I know I am making assumptions but I am also reacting to the fact that I get blamed for our lil' chaps leash reactivity/aggression by other owners, when in fact I am not his first parent, he's had 4, 1st owner, 1st set of adopters who sent him back to the rescue bc he was 'aggressive', his wonderful foster mum and then us.

When actually he suffers from severe separation anxiety, he is incredibly anxious on his walks and has every noise phobia going all because he was not socialised or given basic obedience.

Thanks to the rescue & his foster parents he has settled in a relatively short amount of time and has come along way. And hopefully, with help from the animal behaviour clinic in UCD, we will learn the methods that we need to manage his issues.

BTW what methods do you use to manage your pooches anxiety? I use CBD oil during fireworks times, but day to day use Zyklene, have a subscription for the Adaptil products, Sileo when needed, plenty of structured indoor playtime and nose work training and currently am working on impulse control.

Apologies for the above rant and tangent. We had a Why can't people control their dogs day on our walk?...

    Cheers

Managing it comes with experience I guess? Keeping him happy/secure as much as possible and not pushing him out of his comfort zone. So eg we keep to a routine. I avoid walking places that he's likely to get a fright and say stick to quieter roads. Halloween/New Years no evening walks when he's likely to get a fright as it's just not fair on him and he doesn't enjoy them so games at home etc. Vets can be a big problem as he's had some very bad experiences in the past so i'm basically a difficult customer now when I need to be to save stress - for everyone involved. He's actually happy for the ortho vet we've been seeing to handle him now which is great as he hasn't been ok with male vets for about 7 years since he was man handled by a male vet - e.g. muzzled, held down and shouted at when he was in pain.
We have had sessions with a behaviourist too - but shen came to us. I wouldn't take a dog to behaviourist myself as it'd add an extra layer of stress for him that we don't need. Also we always start any training at home where they're comfortable before we progress elsewhere so taking my guy to somewhere that he's stressed out and around other stressed/injured dogs who I don't know wouldn't work for us.
I've also gotten the most crappiest/outdated behavioural advice from vets so I wouldn't entertain one let alone pay one for behavioural advice but that's just me lol! :p

Report the dog to the Dog Warden. Keep record of dates and times you do so.

Report the owners to the social, probably claiming mickey plus money.
