Lions off to an awful start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Lionbacker

Wow, the Lions have been very consistent the last 3 weeks at been absolutely awful in the first quarter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭Zoton

Doing their best to lose it as early as possible. Sigh...

Isn't that they're defining feature? Don't handle being ahead well. Going 13 down to start is probably part of the plan.

    Genius.

In other news, America can keep their troops and their jingoism, football and drinking beer at twelve on a Thursday with no pressure to go anywhere or do anything other than eat, is the real reason why this is the greatest country on Earth.

FG blocked. Big drive for the Lions here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,447 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Case Keenum has certainly found his team. I was a big fan of the guy coming into the draft but things didn't work out for him and then he looked awful when he got his opportunity with the Rams but he has been pretty exceptional with the Vikings to date.

That was a really sweet throw to Kyle Rudolph for the td right there.

Vikings in a good spot now having found a starter on, I'd presume, the vet minimum.

He's only on a one year deal.

Hard to argue against him today. Very impressive thus far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    Massive td for the lions.

Keeps things interesting for the second half at least

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

Really frustrating drive. A sideline catch that's probably more not a catch. Penalty on a ball that could be called uncatchable. Reciever slips and gains an accidental facmask. After the last 3 match ups, all your looking for against the Lions is just average luck, no more

Lions badly needed that as the crowd were completely gone out of the game prior.

As a neutral, the game badly needed it too.

Keenum has been top class so far. The Lions defensive front is starting to show signs of life but they're still not getting to CK enough.

I was sure the Golladay catch would be overturned, it seemed quite clear to me. The ball was moving around in his hands and it hit the ground and he was still bobbling it after he hit the ground.

    Average luck?
I'd say ye got very lucky when Riddick dropped a pass that was a certain td earlier on in the quarter, not to mention Abdullah fumbling the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Early days still of course, but it's very hard to see a way back for the Lions now.

    Awful run D.

    OL improvement has been insane

Lions awful but the Vikings are such efficient team at both offence & defence - they're a good shout to end up in the Superbowl on home turf

How is poor Lions execution lucky? There were 4 calls that could've gone either way on that drive that went the Lions way. The last 3 match ups have just had insane stuff going on to twist the outcome

You never said anything about officiating. I wouldn't call that luck. Just bad human error.

Despite that, I Don't remember anything game-changing called in the last few games.

Did Stafford shout "Urlacher Urlacher!" when calling the defense earlier?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Lionbacker

Yeah, he did. Went for a first down too I think.

The non-call on for PI on Diggs could end up being very important. The officials have not been great in this one imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,004 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Stafford put in a nice block on that play. Still ended up a loss, but...

My God the taunting call. This officiating performance is actually becoming farcical

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,094 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

WTF was up with call against Keenum?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Some catch but ow Stafford is goosed!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,004 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Terrible call against keenum, refereeing is actually getting even worse as time goes by, today is just a particularly obvious example.

    That was bizzare.

What a TD for the Lions if the flag is on the Vikings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,447 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That was a serious catch from Jones but Stafford looks done for the day at best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Maybe we see a repeat of the Matthew Stafford we saw vs the Browns all those years ago (2009). The famous miced up game. Hobble onto the field and win the game on one leg this time instead of one shoulder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭Zoton

    Nooooooooooooooooo!
Likely would've gone for 2 if Stafford didn't get injured. Hope it's not serious 😥

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Huge missed sack opportunity on that 3rd and 3

Awful throw by Stafford on that 3rd down

I'd say that injury he picked up earlier on affected him. He was ballin' before that.

Well it's now the fight for a wild card, no chance of the division yet again.

Sky cam’s awful on this drive. Seems like it’s zoomed in too much

It was s nice gimmick during the fog but I’ve had enough of it now.
