Why are they all named before they’re even found guilty? That other poor fella lost his place on house of cards before the allegations were even proven.

What will be the punishment for the women if the allegations are proven false? I won’t hold my breath.

It's simple there found guilty in public and it makes it easier to make a substantial claim for compensation ,

What woman do you want to punish if this man's allegations are false?

Welcome to feminism. Men are guilty until proven innocent and women get away with false allegations and child abuse left, right and centre.

In 2016 celebrities were dying at an alarming rate. In 2017, it's celebrity sex scandals. What's next year's epidemic?

His accuser is male. Same with the other lad you referenced.

    Oh honey.

You're going to be in quite a quandary once you Google spacey and takei.

I think you are just trolling the thread.

You must know some of the accusers are male. Particularly Spacey's, who you referred to as the "poor fellow" as opposed to his accuser, who was 14 at the time...

Why let facts get in the way of some good feminist bashing?

Given that it's recently clear that a whole load of sexual assault and rape was going on and covered up in hollywood, I'm not sure now is the best time to start complaining how feminism is bull****.

Critical mass off the back of the Weinstein story basically. The man may end up being the cause of a weird amount of good, though that's probably cold comfort to his victims.

This was certainly left of field. Didn't expect Mr. Zulu to be like that. Many people know him for his Twitter use these days.

Eh I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Take a scoot through his post history and it seems pretty clear that pissing and moaning about women is more of a reflex than anything related to context or facts.

If this is proven to be true I'll be happy to see his downfall because he is one the most smug, sanctimonious pricks in Hollywood.

If it's proven to be true, a swift downfall (at the very least) is definitely deserved. What concerns me in all of this is literally anybody could now be accused of sexual assault via twitter, and within the space of a few hours, be tried and convicted by social media, regardless of whether there's any truth to the accusation, or somebody is just doing it maliciously or trying to get their 15 minutes.

But there's sexual assault and there's sexual assault. This guys story is he'd been out on a theatre/dinner date with another man and the 2 of them decide to go back to Takei's for 'drinks', where if he is to be believed after drinking himself unconscious he finds Takei attempting to or in the process of removing his trousers. He tells Takei 'No' at which stage Takei stops and the guy leaves.

But it's not anywhere as crazy as the Louis CK accusations, grown women who were never touched, who were told what was going to happen, could have easily left but stayed in the room anyway, women over whom Louis had no power (we was not their boss nor even in a working relationship with him). His career seems to be over because a sexually liberated modern woman couldn't say "Actually Louis, not my thing, I'm out of here."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,925 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

So he has categorically denied that this happened. Will that matter or will the witch hunt continue?

He was in a working relationship with some of the five accusers.

Don't know much about Takei, but in the cases of Weinstein, Spacey & LouisCK, once the first public allegations appeared pretty much everyone involved in the industry said "yep, sounds about right".

I think ti would be really interesting to see comparison rates pertaining to case outcomes of cases that first unfolded online or with a suspect named and compare them to cases in which all identities remained anonymous and see if there is a correlation, because nowadays people are guilty before they ever get their day in court.

I blame feminism. Then NWCI would be against punishing perjury in rape cases. Welcome to 21st century Irish women.

If Takei turns out to be proven to be a sexual predator I would be more surprised and shocked than if I was told that my lovely deceased granny used to be a Russian spy.

And in his response to it he admitted that he was in a position of power relative to them.

It's gotten to a point where a woman can say a man assaulted/abused her, the man can admit it and somehow the woman is to blame. It's batsh1t crazy.

Yeah thats true. Takei is denying this outright, could easliy be innocent. We know very little.

I really don’t like that these cases aren’t being brought to the Police tonbe dealt with properly and with anonymity until proven guilty.
There is very little to stop someone now accusing anyone and it seems instantly believed. In my mind someone like Takei is innocent until either he admits it or there’s report of a legal case going against him.

I'll be absolutely shocked if these allegations turn out to be true. Unlike Weinstein, Louis CK etc, so far it seems to just be one allegation and he has denied outright. Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Meh, Takei has basically admitted to doing stuff like this in the past, got caught out on the Howard Stern show years and years ago.

What's annoying me is that he was all for victims coming forward and believing them entirely, but when it happens to him he went with outright denial and can't see the hypocrisy.

And that's the Huff Post, hardly a right wing paper, plus this particular interview is very very recent. Like, last month.

edit: It's not even an allegation, it's a flat out admittance.
