Penultimate race for the 2017 season and rain is expected, at least for Friday and Saturday. Red Bull thinks it can win this race, so does Ferrari and Mercedes. Might be an entertaining race with all those components.

Bit of rain on Saturday to mix up the grid would be good. I'd like to see red bull up the front again, maybe get a fight for the win

I'd love a clean wheel to wheel battle between Verstappen & Ricciardo without any stupid 500 place grid penalties or unforeseen technical gremlins getting in the way. Would be even spicier if it was for the race win

The teams should just get together, decide they'll all replace everything, everyone gets 50 places each and we can go from there :pac:

Mercedes junior and GP3 champion George Russell gets a run for Force India in FP1 this weekend.

That kinda happened at Monza this year. Something like half the field or more got grid penalties if I remember correctly. Everyone was baffled at to what the grid would look like at the end of it all.

Remember, it's also on eir sport 1. You can avail of this if you have an eir broadband package. Add the service to a sky card, or use the app/desktop to watch it.

Alternatively you can pay for a pass on NowTV.

Merc are already gone. Its basically a battle for the best of the rest this weekend.

Not for the first time personnel from an F1 team were robbed at gunpoint leaving the track last night. Mercedes this time, also Williams and FIA people had close calls.

Given the concerns over continued funding and now these additional security concerns, doesn't help the case for the Grand Prix. Argentina watching in wait to grab the spot

Looks to be a bit of weather about, wouldn't mind a little rain during qualy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Ricciardo has a grid penalty again, shame would have been so much better with the 6 front runners all the in the mix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,906 ✭✭✭Joeface

    Hamilton out... Holy crap

Hit the barrier fairly hard. Red flag q1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,685 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

    Odd accident

    Good for mixed up grid

    Hard enough sideways hit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,906 ✭✭✭Joeface

Good in-car footage after the impact. Calmly going down through the gears

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Well that was unexpected :D #Notblessedtoday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

It's good news for Stroll though, gives the Williams boys time to get his car put back together so he can get out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭lolie

If only that happened a few races ago it might have dragged out the championship a bit longer.

Hartley out qualified Gasly. Good stuff from him

A nice shower of rain anytime from now would be good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Bottas snatches it at the end, nice lap from Perez for 6th and Alonso in 7th. They will be hoping for an incident or two and maybe a bit of rain tomorrow to move up. Chance of a sneaky podium maybe

Not sure if this link works, but it's a 360 onboard of Massa put up on Facebook by F1 - it's pretty class!

Here's hoping we get a few good overtakes from Danny Ric down in 15th. Now that the title is wrapped up I can stop cheering for Seb. Hopefully we get at least 1 red bull car on the podium if not 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,929 ✭✭✭kopite386

Also would love to see Alonso get a good start and can't wait to watch his battles

For your first DNF to be because someone else did something stupid must be infuriating....

    Great start by Seb

Gasly and Hartley got a very good start amid all the chaos

Haas should hire maldonado, cannot be cause for more crashes than their two clowns.

Hamilton six places up without overtake. Legend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Vandoorne & KMag couldn't really do anything. Ricciardo lost it on the kerb and that concertina effect brought all 3 together. Racing incident.

I blame Grosjean for the other crash, he ran out of talent again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

It's just dawned on me that Grosjean is still in the race, mildly infuriating that he's still in it but Ocon is out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Jesus the speed differential between a new Mercedes engine for Hamilton and the others is unbelievable. He's scything through the field

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,685 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Hamilton must be set up for passing, not getting stuck on the traffic like in Brazil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,929 ✭✭✭kopite386

As soon as Riccardo makes his way up the pack it's going to turn into every race this season : boring :D
All the excitement will be gone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,685 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

    Ricciardo is going for everything

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,929 ✭✭✭kopite386

So incident between Vandoorne, Riccardo and Magnussen will be investigated after the race - I wouldn't think it needs investigating I would have put it down as a racing incident
