Lots of people dead it seems. Its a shame but its the way it goes in the US. They dont seem to care so much about doing anything about it (beyond offering prayers obviously).

A gunman opened fire at a church in Texas during Sunday services, resulting in multiple reported casualties.
The attack happened at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs in Wilson County.
Local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 reported the gunman entered the church at around 11:30 local time and began shooting.
Police told the outlet there were "multiple victims" and the gunman had been killed in the aftermath. The number of casualties is not yet clear

Reports of a mass shooting at a church in Texas with reports of 27 deaths.

    Domestic Terrorism or isis inspired?
A gunman has reportedly opened fire at a church in Texas, leaving up to 24 people dead, it has been reported.

The incident took place at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, a small community south east of San Antonio.

Witnesses reported seeing a man walk into the church at around 11.30am local time.

The shooter is now believed to be dead.

Unconfirmed reports on social media claim that more than a dozen people have been injured during the shooting, though it is not clear yet how serious their injuries are.

Albert Gamez, Jr., a Wilson County Texas commissioner told CBS: "There's still a lot of investigation going on the details are kind of sketchy. A number, what they're telling me is 27 deceased and around 25 injured.

"First call it was 15, then 24, and now 27.

The average number of people killed in these american shooting rampages seems to be so much higher than in the past
Wasnt the university shooting back in 2000 or so the worst for a long time and only 15 died or something, seems like every shooting the last few years is much more

Desperate stuff. You'd like to think you'd be safe in a church but then this isn't the first time.

How they don't toughen their gun laws is beyond me. It's insane that they don't.

    People kill, not the guns.

He would have gone in there and killed them all with his bare fists anyway.

2 parallel threads on this... Whilst 'clever', not sure the title of this one is very appropriate myself...

Edit: But you know what, completely agree all the same with OPs comments and can see where they're coming from with the title!

The churchgoers should have brought guns with them to the service to take out any potential attacker.

In Texas of all places one of the highest population of gun owners in the whole 52 states

    The argument was always

'' this does not happen in Texas, as we have guns in Texas ''

Well it happened in Texas !

How many tragedies and killing sprees have to happen in America before they introduce gun control. They can't keep letting their citizens die at the hands of these lunatics

mass shooting is the term all over the place. I didn't see cleverness in it until you pointed it out but I get it now obviously.

Could it be the type of weapons being used? These days they seem to have greater velocity and rounds per second firing rate.

Wonder which right winger will blame Kingman

Very sad incident but I have no expectation that this will force any change of the LUNATIC gun laws of America.

It's some indictment on Americans and their society that the majority seem fine with atrocities like this happening regularly.

If more priests were armed there would be fewer deaths during Mass

Altar servers should tool up with flick knives and Bishops should be allowed grenades

Couple of weeks before the Vegas shooting there was a racially motivated church shooting also...it was in revenge for a previous church shooting:

They only care about action if the attacker(s) is from a certain race or religion.

It'd be simple enough to set an explosive device up too, its not the guns as was pointed out, its the lunatics behind them.
Killers always find a way, lately its been a spate of vehicles driven in to crowds, aeroplanes being taken out, should we ban them all?
How about people, they do it all, exterminate?

BBC just said some sources are saying the gunman targeted members of their own family first.

But gun sales generate far too much money for them to ever want to stop selling them.

The colour & religion of the shooter is the most important topic in these crimes. The amount of victims doesn't really matter sadly.

There has been 376 mass shooting (a mass shooting being defined as 4 of more casualties) so far this year. The country is pathetic in its disregard for human life. More will die tomorrow and the next day and each day after yet nothing will change.

The amount of victims doesn't give leads on how to prevent similar crimes or to learn the whys od such attacks.

They couldn't go banning or even tightening up their gun laws. Too much money to be made.

Crocodile tears and prayers now for the next while. Trump might even send a nice tweet.

Yep, prayers are really gonna help. Talk about patronising for the families. They may as well send bottles of air.

Sorry for your loss. We won't change anything, but here's lots of prayers
