I made the mistake years ago of buying a quick release belt, it's a pain in the arse and after putting up with it out of pigheadedness it's time to change.
I was wondering what people's experience of one belt vs the other was?

I just changed from double prong to lever and I find it great. What did you not like about the lever?

Mine isn't a lever, the quick release belt is its own thing. You can Google image them but essentially they're poor.
I like the idea that I can tighten or loosen the single prong on the spot with no messing depending on if I'm deadlifting or squatting as opposed to the lever.
The double prongs I used to use were fine, yank it tight and away I went so I know the single prong would do the job unless there's something about the levers I need to know?
Judging by the amount of lever mechanisms that are available on their own I presume in time they break?

Had both a double prong and lever.

Only got the lever because the 'excess' belt, or whatever you call it, was catching off my shorts on deadlifts. I can't remember if I had got too big a belt or not in the first place.

Aside from that, I found zero difference.

    Both were 10mm from Strengthshop.

Edit: I probably mostly got the lever belt because I got a voucher from work and couldn't think of anything else to start spending it on in the next 2 minutes...

On deads I keep the belt hoisted up like George Leeman/Simon Cowell so that'll take care of that.
Are the likes of the Strengthshop single prongs OK for ipf? I remember reading about some weirdness that as SBD were the sponsor it needed to be their gear, or maybe just took it up wrong

    Doesn't have to be sbd
strength shop mention which of their stuff is ipf on the website I think. the 10mm lever is anyway. I just checked and i don't see the same note on the prong one which is odd

Mostly doesnt matter for IPF unless you're in Nationals. At Opens it doesnt necessarily have to be IPF spec. You can see list of IPF approved equipment here:

    http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/rulescodesinfo/approved-list.html

You could always turn the belt backwards anyway and I often did but i just got the lever belt anyway because it was free.

I dont really think the lever belt offers any more than a double or single prong to be honest.

It is definitely better than the velcro SportsDirect belt I'd had until about a year and a half ago...

Yeah only the lever belt is IPF approved and i did clarify if it mattered that i had a double prong before i did my first comp.

Nice one that settles that so!
