What were you using as a payment method?

I chose PayPal. Maybe an Irish bank card triggered something

yea that’s it, Irish credit card. I tried PayPal but it didn’t go through when signing up so reverted to the credit card.

Managed to restart my Turkey account in Ukraine.

Will see how long it lasts. 😬

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered a million times iv read so much I’m losing track.

My virtual revolut card got compromised so had to cancel it and now trying to update my Netflix payment with the new card number I’m getting the following message

“There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use”

Iv been using this account (signed up through Chile) for over a year using a virtual revolut card. Trying to update on the website tried multiple devices and browsers, vpn on and off but keep getting the same error. Is there anything I can do to update the payment details? If not do I need to setup a new account with a new email address? Next payment is due on the 24th. Thanks in advance for any help

Recently lost my Turkey account and trying to restart the same one in Ukraine using Surfshark, but I keep getting this message when I try to sign-in using my existing account.
"Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later."
Note: I'm trying to sign in using a browser.

Anyone have any suggestions to why this might be happening?

I'm getting the same message. When i don't have a VPN running I can log in but once its on, i'm getting error messages.

I was getting that so i moved to Bulgaria.

Any reason why it's stuck recommending top 10 films from Bulgaria and not Ireland?

If you have an EU Netflix account you keep your local Netflix anywhere in Europe. So if you have an Irish account you'll see irish content anywhere in EU. If you go outside EU you'll see the local country then.

So if you have a Bulgarian account now you'll see Bulgarian content anywhere in the EU.

I can’t get anywhere with Netflix once I have a vpn running. Can’t log into my old account as it says the password is incorrect, can’t reset it as I get a technical error message and when I try to set up a new account, the page just refreshes with no message. Tried two vpns and no joy. Any idea what’s going on?

has anyone ever tried to get refund from turgame? (Their website says digital codes are generally not refundable). I have bunch of unused TL vouchers. I think I’d prefer getting face value refund over trying to restart Turkish sub and loose it all due to Netflix kicking account in few days or weeks. And use Ukraine instead.

Are you sure? When I used my account in France, it was the french netflix, not my local one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

I would agree. It's country specific so if you have an irish sub, and you go to France, you'll be on French Netflix, not Ireland as dulpit suggested. That being said, I'm a recent Lithuanian, and now I get 'Top 10 movies in Lithuania today'…… when watching in Dublin, whereas with the Turkish Sub, it was always 'Top 10 movies in Ireland today'.

Were ye using accounts from outside EU prior to this? I assume if ye've all just moved to EU countries you had an account somewhere else? So if you had a Turkish or Indian or wherever account, you'd get Irish Netflix in Ireland, French in France, etc.

I had the same thing happening to me. I just logged in with VPN off, then turnt on the VPN once I was logged in and the subscribed to Ukrainian Netflix. Worked grand.

Also got booted from Turkey and just restarted the same account via Ukraine for €7.49pm. Importantly all account profiles and viewing history remain.

    Process I followed:

I used two phones, Phone one was an old android and followed these steps:

    1) VPN to Ukraine

    2) Log into your account

    3) Select restart membership

    4) Input your card details to verify payment — I used my curve card as when I tried with my revolut it was generating a payment error. Curve worked immediately

The second phone (my personal phone) to verify card information via curve app.

Used Hola VPN which is foc and all done in about 5mins.

You should uninstall Hola when your done. Their privacy policy is sketchy and it has a pretty bad rep across the interwebs. If you need a one off vpn, ProtonVPN is the best free offering out there.

I need to restart again to get away from Columbia (avoid columbia)

Vpn needed at all times but this is reducing the picture quality also making it almost unwatchable and it's basically buffering for 20-30s before

    a movie starts.

So that's Turkey, Ukraine and Columbia gone

Might see if I can get back into Turkey.

Are there currently any work arounds to get the cheaper Ukraine/Bulgaria etc low prices but have the content be Irish based ie top 10 movies in Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,354 ✭✭✭reubenreuben

I have the Ukraine subscription but it shows all the content as if I was subscribed to the Irish one.

The content library you can view on Netflix is determined by your geographical location and not your account country location. Netflix checks your IP address to determine what country you are in.

Thats why using VPN can increase a the content available to watch by accessing other countries libraries (by changing your IP address).

uNoGS (unofficial Netflix online Global Search) is a searchable database of the Netflix global catalog that allows you to find content across different Netflix regions. I find it great to watch movies not available locally.

Except if your account is an EU account - you will still get your local content in any other EU country (e.g. if Irish account you'll see Irish account anywhere in EU, if French the same). If you go outside the EU you then see the local country's content.

So that's Turkey, Ukraine and Columbia gone

So what country is recommended now? Whats best to try? Has anyone lost Turkey a second time after resigning up?

    “Roll it back”

    Thats not my experience. A couple of recent examples;

We werent able watch to Top Gun in Ireland. But turn on VPN to Germany and then its available.

Likewise my son likes to watch SWAT on Netflix in our Tesla. But because the car has a Dutch sim card, its sometimes throws up the Netherlands library, which means he cant watch it as its not in the Dutch library.

    Thanks, that’s very helpful.

Ah, I see what you mean, and it would appear from a quick google that service providers (including netflix) must allow subscribers to watch the same catalogue they signed up for when they travel within the EU, so technically, as I signed up with LT, then once I am located anywhere within the EU, I should have access to LT content, not the Irish catalogue.

So the only way to regain the Irish catalogue is to either bite the bullet and pay IE prices or roll the dice with non-EU sign-up. Think I'll stick with LT !
