Had not used account since they closed all the Turkey accounts a few months back, got back in with old login eventually with vpn, torturous to get it to accept turgame code, changed vpn provider for it to finally accept. Going forward do you need to go to Turkey site with vpn to load vouchers or just use netflix.com without vpn?

Last few times for me anyway, I was able to add codes without using VPN

Got a mail this morning that Turkey sub is going up again. Says from August 10th which is when my gift cards run out.

    Premium currently 229TRY

    New premium price 299TRY.

Some amount of increases for turkey in the last year or so. That must be about the 5th one.

    The increases are hefty overall

    In May 2022, I paid 54.99

    June 2022, 77.99

    Nov 22, 93.99

    June 23, 130.99

    Nov 23, 199.99

That's nearly 6 times dearer than a little over 2 years ago.

Yeah but the lira has devalued significantly in that time. If you compare the euro prices its about x2.5 more expensive (which isn't insignificant).

I had my last price increase on March 3rd but the Lira has been relatively stable since then so yet another substantial increase 4 months later can't be solely blamed on the currency

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭bren2001

I wasn't stating the increases were solely currency based. Claiming a six fold increase is unfair as the euro price has only increased by 2.5 times due to currency fluctuations. That's the relevant metric for people paying in Ireland.

It's clear I didn't blame it solely on currency.

love how people complain about the price increases in Turkey when we’re the ones essentially scamming netlix in the first place :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,228 ✭✭✭0ph0rce0

Still less than half the price here. Can't go wrong.

Just got email that my Turkish sub goes from 230L (6.50€) to 300L ( 8.50€).

Not sure about other regions but that is hardly worth for me.Not sure if I watched one movie in the last few months 😑

Best thing they did was clampdown, made me re evaluate my lack of use of the service.

Still worth it for me, just about. If it goes much higher I'll just get 2 months two or three times a year

My sub is Indian, so no prize rise as of yet but, my rewards card is changing it's perks eligibility and if I lose full cashback for my Netflix sub? I'm just going to cancel as apart from it being a reflexive convenience. I have access to everything I'd want to see via the high seas.

Never got the price rise email, so a little suspicious of the upcoming payment, was it every Turkey user?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,565 ✭✭✭SourSessions

My plan was paid out today and I got the email (you always get it on the day of your renewal) - but it went into my junk. Might have happened to you too.

Loading a gift voucher code onto my Turkish a/c yesterday and Netflix asked me for my postcode. 😬

I shut it down, set my vpn to Turkey and tried again.

Didn't ask for a postcode, phew!

Got the price increase email and charged the older price today, presume it’ll kick on next month for 229 regular plan

I'm Turkey with gift cards for the last few years. I have no connection issues yet

Have a sub through turkey and moved over to giftcards as soon as they blocked revolut/irish cards. Applied my second set of gift cards just this morning that get me into May 2025*. No issues applying the cards or watching Netflix 4k without vpns. Hopefully no more price increases for another while yet, however talking to my Turkish colleagues who knows.

*edited to change date I got my dates wrong.

The risk is that they nuke your account and don't give you your credits back. You've broken the T&Cs so they'll argue you're not entitled to it back. Wouldn't advise others to follow this

I'm hedging my bets here, I paid for 3 months gift cards and it was running out. I had no hicups so I went and bought 6 months credit and apply it as I don't want to have to buy vouchers every month and apply. That's too much admin work for me.

If they nuke my account I'm down 50 euro (2000TL voucher cost 50 euro), so be it, others piss that up against a wall every Saturday night. If I get 2.5 months of my credit used before they nuke I'm not losing out (Irish 4k is 21 euro per month), if Netflix nuke my account using gift cards I'll cancel Netflix and not sign back up. So be it, I barely watch it myself (apart from Drive To Survive) it's mostly for the wife and kids.

Breaking the T&C's is something I'm willing to do, and If I calculated how much I've saved on Netflix 4k since 2018 it will have been more than worth it. Even with Netflix nuking my account three times during the payment method clamp down I signed up in Turkey, Nigeria and India each wasting roughly 7 euro for 1-2 days worth of Netflix I'm still way up on just paying through Ireland. Netflix is a big company they won't miss the money but I will.

I think everyone on this thread is willing to break the Netflix T&Cs, I was only stating what Netflix can argue if you went looking for your money.

I'd agree with your viewpoint on it all and it was really just a note for others who may choose to follow you. That's the risk you take. Personally, I don't have any issues adding the credit every month. Takes 5 minutes.

Netflix was acting the ham for loads of people last night. Not turkey related. All on Irish accounts

This. Mine is working grand again.

My Turkish Netflix voucher account had been working all good. Applying the vouchers are a pain that would be my biggest concern over the voucher route being cut off rather than accounts working with valid vouchers being nuked, I'm signed up until December I don't think I would chance spending money vouchers for anything more than 6 months ahead
