A bit of a pisser for Hartley, his grid penalties are in Kvyat's old car.

Hard to judge who has the pace this weekend. I think all teams are not showing their hand. It's close between the top three teams. I think qualy will show who is good on the pink ultras, but not necessarily who actually has the race pace. Maybe a possible win for RB running a long soft tyre stint?!

Which begs the question, what will happen on the podium if Verstappen or Stroll finish up there. Neither are over 21 so they can't drink champagne legally.

    This too shall pass.

Ridiculous carry on. I mean the American authorities must know that Americans don't wait until 21 to drink.

And Irish don't wait til 18, but it's the law regardless. Don't they give rose water or something instead of alcohol

On C4, I like what Karun is doing with the side-by-side lap comparison, between Hamilton & Ricciardo: equalising the video, with the time gap, after each sector.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

C4 doing some great coverage pre-qualification. Karun is a great asset to the C4 team. Not a big fan of aussiegrit, but will put up with him. Enjoying the time of day this is on too. Having a few beers with the TV to myself!

Good to see Emerson Fittipaldi there, enjoying himself. He was F1 champion in '72 and '74, CART champion in 1989, and won the Indianapolis 500 twice in his late '40s!

I wonder whether track limits will be a factor again this weekend? IIRC it was a thorny issue last year ...

    Poor Stroll, probably a penalty.

The McLaren just looks outstanding through the fast corners.

Magnussen too, on Perez. But Stroll could have caused a pile-up there, crawling along on the racing line during Q is a very bad thing.

The Stroll blocking incident was dangerous. Jesus I winced when I saw it happen expecting Grosjean to slam into him

Stroll more than a second off Massa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,898 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

I'm supporting Hartley as a prospect, but he's 8tenths behind Kvyat. And Stroll is 1.6 down on Massa. Shameful sh1t.

Sainz showing what an actual F1 driver can do in the other Renault. Somewhere now Jolyon "a second off his teammate" Palmer is sobbing softly on his own in a darkened room.

Most likely sitting in a cardboard box with his helmet on pretending he's still out there.

Well Palmer did well to keep his drive so long, more a poor reflection on Renault than on Palmer himself.

Carlos Seinz doing great in the Renault. Vandoorne not doing as good as Alonso here. Grosjean not having a good day. Really hope Vettel can at least get 2nd so he can give Hamilton a good challenge for the lead at the start of te race.

Vettel in 2nd. If he can keep his cool now tomorrow and get that or first that would be good. Overall do not the most exciting of qualifying sessions.

I think it was Ham and Max but much the same.
It was good to see and I can only imagine what the teams do to just get a .001 second a lap.

Any reason for the late start, they mentioned yesterday that there was qualifying was 2hr later in the day than typical (extra 2hrs between P3 and qualy)

Maybe to get bigger audience in US or something?

    Seriously sick of Sky F1.

They should be renamed Sky Hamilton.

David Croft is a pain in the backside as well.

I’ll switch to C4 this evening, are they as bad as Sky for the Hamilton obsession?

    Just watched qualy notebook
Sean Bratches told Ted that Michael Buffer will do a boxing style intro of each driver on the grid.

Bernie will be turning in his grave
