It only works on the lock screen! And I’m really freaking out!!! Because all my college assignments are on it! Would letting the battery wear down overnight work??? Thanks

You might have mistakenly pressed the function key plus a F1-12 button to turn the trackpad off.

What make / model is the laptop?

For example if I press FN + F9 that turns my trackpad on / off.

An external mouse might get you out of a jam, but I presume that it is some function key that has caused this.

Or else you could get an external mouse.

You should be able to navigate on the keyboard without too much trouble. Alt + Tab to change to different open windows. Windows button will open the start menu, you can type in the name of the application you want. Ctrl + c to copy, Ctrl + v to paste. Alt to open up menus. This should mean you can open and copy off any assignments you need.
