Serpent SMM - Partial Mesh Wick

I have two of these Serpent SMM tanks on the go now, both using a simple .5 316L SS spaced coil 3mm ID and using them in temp control . I find them great , no real leaking to speak of ( small bit of seepage from around the air control ring but no spillage as such ) .

One issue I do have from time to time is a bit of an air lock under the deck , easily solved with a bit of care and attention when wicking to just get the right amount of cotton down into the holes but I have now found a way of eliminating that completely and also make the job of wicking even quicker and simpler .

So from the deck down into the base is mesh and then cotton through the coil and down onto the deck, laying on top of the mesh .

Four full tanks in and it seems to be working fine . If you want to change flavours you can always take out the mesh and torch it with a lighter and put it back in .

It's better explained in this video from Todd
