Why Dont Mods Move Threads That Are In The Wrong Forum?

    Take for example this:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057792321

Would it not have been just as easy for the Mod to actually move that thread to the Education Forum?

Also for future searches, is it not better to avoid having duplicates?

    Moved to Help Desk.

The best thing to do is to PM a mod first when asking about action taken. For the most part, threads are moved to a more relevant forum. An exception to this is the Newbie & FAQ forum, as threads seem to attract spam if moved for some reason...

In cases such as Helpdesk of N&F, we point them to the right location rather than move the thread to help them recognise they made a mistake and to help educate them. If we just moved them, they don't always realise it if they're reading threads from their My Threads page or the like.

We also had the added annoying of spambots targeting N&F threads in the past, and following them to their new locations, though the anti-spam measures have stopped them since then.
