Window Trim

I've posted this elsewhere, without too much success, but some leads which I'm still waiting to see bear fruit. So, in the meantime I thought I'd throw it out to you guys. FWIW I haven't posted on the Wellcraft forums as they seem to be well nigh dormant.

So, further to a recent query, fergal suggested that I look at sealsdirect, which I did to no avail. They have nothing remotely like what I need and anything that might do is much too small, but thanks for the pointer anyway.

I'm trying to retrim the outside of the windows on my Wellcraft. One of the upper deck windows has to be replaced (luckily the glass came with the boat) and I need the trims/inserts to fit it. I also wanted to replace the opposite side while I'm at it, as they have split and separated in places. The front windows on the cabin also need new rubber inserts, as the originals have shrunk over time and one leaks slightly at the mitred corner.

I have included a sketch of the set up on the deck windows, showing the profile of the frame and how the slips/trim work. There is also a locking trim piece involved, but I can work around that if need be. The front windows are a straightforward rubber "wedge" type insert, but still hard to locate.

I was in touch with "taylormade" who, I'm told, supplied Wellcraft with their window fittings. They sent me an old page from a parts caralogue, showing the exact trims in question, stating that they were supplied by a company called "Americanmarine", who in turn were absorbed into other companies, finishing up as "pompanettellc".

I've emailed them, twice, looking for help, but no news so far.

So, if anyone has any thoughts as to suppliers, or an alternative approach, which I'm open to, it would be most welcome. Attached images might explain better. On the catalogue page image, the deck window trim is part number
30-1075 and the front window rubbers is part number 30-1021.

    Thanks in advance.

Try googling "window wedge gasket" you might find another one that will fit.

Thanks for the response fergal. I knew you'd be first in line (and possibly last also!) I've googled every possible permutation/word combination/phrase/term including "Marine" and "Seal" which only led me to an article which explained the difference between a Marine and a Navy Seal!

Since getting the "catalogue" page, I have been encouraged to find that these trims have at least existed somewhere in someone's inventory and may possibly still do.

I would have thought that they are a pretty generic arrangement, given the fact that the upper screens with the side windows are very common. Just finding out who supplies the stuff is the trick. Lots of other trims are available, but those would be more decorative than actually functional. I think Plan B,C, or D beckons!

    Thanks again.

Just for the benefit of anyone else in the same position, I got a lead from a post on another forum which has proved to be successful. There is a company in Florida. They are at sales@marineglassspecialties.com whom I emailed and had an immediate response from a very helpful individual named Stewart.

A follow up phone call confirmed that they stocked the exact seals and trim that I'm looking for, so I just have to send on the details to get a cost of what's involved and then they should be on the way!! Woo hoo!!

I was hoping I wouldn't have to improvise, which was possible, but not the preferred option. So, a happy camper. Thanks again for the inputs.

Just an update to the above. After some to-ing and fro-ing with emails and phone calls to Florida I finally got confirmation of availability and cost for (most) of my window trim. The cost came in at $453 plus shipping.
I can't justify spending this much on some bits of plastic and rubber and so , I'll work around the issue. Updates etc. will be posted in my refurb thread.
Maybe $453 Is cheap, but it's relative!
